Came across this via TaxiPoint, but this is the verbatim stuff from the survey. There are two different pages, and they look like they largely repeat each other, but I can't really be bothered trying to distil or summarise it all, if only because it's quite technical and requires a careful read...
But it all reeks of skullduggery and black markets etc
And the trade in Aberdeen is largely similar in structure to Dundee's, thus I know how it works in terms of plates etc
And that was when there was simply a single vehicle spec for HCs in Dundee, and a waiting list, whereas now they've got six different HC plates because of the two different WAV specs, and their EV variations?
At least it looks like there's just a simple saloon or WAV spec, as opposed to the half dozen different specs in Dundee
About the projectWe are engaging with the general public and key stakeholders that may be impacted by the mixed taxi fleet.
This feedback will be included in the report to Licensing Committee on 14th May 2025.
It is suggested that a split of 50% Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs) and 50% saloon vehicles is established, and that the current policy that all new applications require to be for WAVs is maintained.
It is also suggested that a waiting list for licence holders wishing to change from a WAV to a saloon vehicle is established, and current licence holders who have operated a WAV for at least 5/10 years are offered the first opportunity to register an interest to join the waiting list. This will be done by asking licence holders to email the licensing email address from a certain date and time and the list will be compiled in the order in which the requests are received. No request received before the stipulated time and date will be considered.
Thereafter all remaining current licence holders will be afforded the opportunity to register their interest in joining the list in the same way on a later date. When a saloon plate becomes available the first name on the list will be invited to confirm within 7 days that they remain interested. If they do not do so they will be moved to the bottom of the list and the opportunity will pass to the next name on the list.
If they do confirm that they remain interested they will have 3 months from the date of the original availability to submit an application to substitute a saloon vehicle onto their licence. If this is not done they will be moved to the bottom of the list and the opportunity offered to the next name on the list.
