This isn't very exciting, and is straight from the Warrington Police Facebook page, although it's been faithfully rehashed elsewhere by the local rag.

The Wolverhampton angle is slightly interesting though, as is the accompanying photo :-o

And a tad amusing the way the Wolves LO is standing slightly back - I mean, that's presumably a local HC, over which the Wolves LO will have zero jurisdiction. Presumably.

And it's not even clear if local LOs were involved...

Also interesting that several breaches were found, while normally the Wolves PR machine seems to only publicise operations when there's a clean bill of health

Not much in the way of specifics, though, and certainly makes it sound like nothing too serious was found.

Unlike in you-know-where 8-[

But in actual fact the stuff below is mainly PR blather.

This evening, Warrington South Neighbourhood police, supported by taxi licencing officers, conducted a joint operation together to focus on licensed passenger vehicles, primarily in the Town Centre and Stockton Heath areas.

Several taxis were checked, and working alongside Wolverhampton licensing officers several breaches of licence conditions were reported.

Through Operation Confederation, we are working with our partner organisations to provide reassurance to those using taxis in Warrington that they are safe to use and road worthy, with enforcement action being taken where appropriate. Cheshire Police will continue to support the legitimate taxi drivers of Warrington throughout, ensuring those enjoying a night out in Warrington can return home safely.

An unusually large number of comments on there as well - at the time of writing about 140 in 13 hours or so since the post was made last night, and thus mostly this morning I'd imagine.

Pretty predictable stuff, though, and life's too short... [-(

But, I mean, who writes word-perfect comments like this and posts them below a post like that? Sounds like Wolverhampton Council's PR department in overdrive :-o

But if I had to guess I'd say it's a local operator who has a lot of Wolves-badged drivers on his books...

Wolverhampton Council has really set the standard for private hire licensing their process is fast, fully online, and driver-friendly. They’re efficient, professional, and make it easier for drivers to get on the road while still keeping strong compliance checks in place. No wonder so many drivers from Warrington and beyond choose them.

Those WolvoLO's seem to do a lot of this. The cynic in me wonders if they get some generous expenses for this kind of activity.
