Was a bit confused by this at first - previous incidents like this normally the occupant of the car lamping the person trying to get in. But there have been various scenarios...
(In fact think I've actually got the above back to front

)
And the ones I can vaguely recall have all been in Scotland - not sure why that would be, but maybe it's because I recall them better because I've often seen punters trying to get into cars parked illegally on our rank, but can't recall any particular incident other than a minor disagreement, or whatever
Any ruck more likely to involve taxi drivers challenging the illegal parkers. Which isn't allowed, obviously
(I mean challenging the illegal parkers isn't allowed; not that the illegal parking on the rank isn't allowed, because effectively it is

)
Man punched unconscious after mistaking car for taxihttps://www.eastlothiancourier.com/news ... -car-taxi/A MAN was knocked unconscious after mistaking his attacker’s car for a taxi.Mark Gallacher, of Delta View, Musselburgh, claimed that Mark Stirling had knocked on his car door and asked if he was a taxi after stopping his vehicle outside a takeaway outlet on the town’s High Street.
Gallacher said that he told the man he was not a taxi and he claimed that had led to Mr Stirling kicking his car door and walking to a nearby bus stop.
The 39-year-old said he “reacted angrily” to this and, after exiting his vehicle, he walked up to Mr Stirling and punched him once to the head, leading to the man being rendered unconscious.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that the incident took place while Gallacher’s young son was in the back of the car and, following the assault, he returned to his home on August 25, 2023.
The security worker pleaded guilty to the charge of assault to severe injury when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month and returned to the dock for sentencing last week.
He was placed on a community payback order where he will have to complete 180 hours of unpaid work and will be under the supervision of the local social work team for two years.
Gallacher will also have to pay Mr Stirling £600 in compensation.
