Another hattip to TaxiPoint for this one.

And this is very intriguing. Either they had a very high hit rate, or they tested hundreds of cars. And even with a very high hit rate they must have looked at at least a couple of hundred cars? Don't want to doubt the cited figures, but it would be interesting to know the details :-k

And, of course, the problem with this is that, even assuming the figures are correct, nothing to say where the cars were plated, whether they're local cars, or on Wolves plates, or Sefton or Knowsley, which obviously have a lot of cross-border cars working in that neck of the woods.

But this is all the tweet says:

Merseyside Police Road Policing Unit wrote:
This evening officers did a joint operation with colleagues from Liverpool and Wolverhampton Taxi licensing. Numerous vehicles stopped and nearly 100 defect or suspension notices were issued, 2 people arrested with drugs and 1 disqualified driver taken off the road.

...so absolutely nothing to indicate which council's cars were given the defect or suspension notices, or which were arrested or was disqualified.

But which details would, of course, be very interesting, particularly in view of recent news stuff nationally :-o

And for the thread title I've assume the 100 figure relates to 100 different cars, but could the figure include multiple defects on the same car, or whatever? :?

(And it was *nearly 100*, specifically, so the 100 figure isn't wholly accurate anyway...)

Of course, to an extent there's no point in overanalysing vague stuff like that, but at least don't be like this daftie and not even read what it says at all

He's basically attributing it all to Wolves cars when the tweet says nothing of the kind [-(

Quote:
there are knowsley and sefton plates there, are you saying only the wolverhampton plated cars had defects.

you are alleging that 2 wolves licensed drivers were arrested and the 100 defects found on their cars.

when your pictures show other councils

And don't forget this is what the official Wolverhampton twitter feed posted at the weekend about what was presumably the same operation. Nothing to do with us, guv

On Friday June 27, Wolves City Council wrote:
Tonight, Compliance Officers are working in Liverpool with colleagues from @lcc_licensing
and @MerPolTraffic carrying out compliance checks on licensed vehicles. So far the Police have seized a PHV (not a @WolvesCouncil PHV) as the driver is disqualified from driving! ^DB

I wonder if they stopped any licensed PH driving instructors.
