WHat a hellish sun morning trying to get rvellers home . I started work at 9pm and by 2am i had only done 5 jobs,, got stuck out in the sticks after taking a young couple home, 15 miles in 4 hours round trip. After getting back to glasgow city centre i figured wasnt worth working the treacherous conditions and went home (just), but shows how vulnerable we can all be to the weather.

As soon as that white stuff starts laying, off old Sussex goes.

Yes it's mobbed out with punters, but you can't pick up a tenth of what you usually can. And isn't it better to have your motor in one piece when the snow goes?

I was out in Glasgow City centre on Saturday night seeing Bernard Manning & even he said he was heading back to Manchester on a 5 hour drive because of the bad weather forcast for Central Scotland

We all missed the resulting snow as the show finished around 10 pm

When I parked my car before the show some wee Glasgow hardman asked if I wanted him to watch my car for a fiver. I told him it was alright as I've got a rotweiler in the back. His reply was 'The rotweiler put out fires does it ?'

Yes - it was a joke up here on Saturday night!

I finished at 1:30am - having serious traction problems - even in the city centre!

Down around £120 in earnings - but better that than a big Insurance Excess!!

No doubt we'll all be hated by the punters for going home - even although 95% of ALL roads in Glasgow were nearly impossible to use.

As I said, finished at 1:30am - arrived home at 2:00am (15 miles) - took me another HOUR to get the car up the drive into the garage
(and no, I wasn't leaving it outside for some fool to crash into thank you very much)

Well sat night was OK for some of us sensible people, even with 4 inch of snow, I always put on all season tyres at the start of December then there no problems.
It was brill on Sunday morning all them punters just for me doubled my usual take

The problem up here is not only my lack of traction due to my 18" wheels, but the wee boy racers who think they are on the Sweden WRC course going round Sauchiehall St!

Better to be safe than sorry in my book - I like my car too much.

the snow started at 4.00 am on sunday in dundee, just as the nightshift finnished, when i got out of bed at 12.00 it was a total whiteout, i decided to go out and take a chance as i know from experience most dundee cabbies call it a day after the fifth snowflake falls, it was tough at first but i found the more money i took in the heavier my money bag got, this extra weight helped keep my cab from sliding all over the place and here i am two days later still counting my take, the bad weather could,t have came at a worse time for some cabbies, there was a week long police check on dundee cabbies prior to this, and quite a few were put off the road, mainly for tyres but some for not having badges,the dwta made a rather amusing remark regarding one on their website

There was hardly a cab / taxi to be seen on glasgow city centre after 3am. Believe me or not, but the temptation ran high to work right through the night but the roads were that bad that i could testify that traction in my case was literally 0. When you are sliding from side to side doing 15 miles an hour, boy you know you have issues. Car and personal safety aside, we also have a duty of care to our passengers therefore making at least in my case, an impossible night to work. Although i know those lads who hire the office cars were out all night
