Seven out of twelve looks like a high failure rate, but it says the vehicles stopped were targeted. Personally I would much rather that happened than the random stops we usually see.
Seven taxi drivers suspended after operation in Bradfordhttps://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/ ... -bradford/MORE than half of the taxi drivers inspected during an operation in Bradford have been suspended.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Bradford East Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) partnered with the Bradford Council Taxi Enforcement Team last Friday.
The teams carried out targeted taxi compliance checks across the district.
A total of 12 vehicles were inspected.
Seven of those were "suspended from service due to non-compliance" while "one driver was flagged for further review regarding their licence suitability", according to a spokesperson for the NPT.
They added: "This proactive operation helps ensure public safety and uphold standards for licensed taxi services in Bradford."
The team also issued a reminder for passengers of the checks they should always make when using a taxi.
This includes:
The vehicle is clean and well-maintained
The driver wears their taxi licence ID on a lanyard
The driver behaves professionally and drives safely
The NPT spokesperson said: "If you notice anything suspicious or unsafe, report it to the Taxi Enforcement Team via the Bradford Council website, referencing the vehicle registration (VRM) or taxi plate number."
