Youngish male (with AN Other), multi-stop run, then non-payment. In Greenock :-o

Wonder what that run might have been all about? 8-[

Which in turn maybe explains why it's being pursued at all, and why he's appeared in court, and is due to appear again over a £50 taxi job...

Greenock man charged with not paying £50 taxi fare

A GREENOCK man allegedly took a taxi to and from several locations in Greenock and did not pay the £50 fare.

Jamie Murphy, 24, is charged with obtaining a taxi from West station to Lansbury Street, to John Wilson Street, to Bearhope Street, and to Lansbury Street without paying and not intending to pay £50.

Murphy, of Cornhaddock Street, is said to have committed the offence on April 25 this year while acting with another.

The matter has been continued without plea and will return to court on January 9.

It doesn't actually say he's just appeared in court, but the wording in the last sentence there suggests he has, particularly the use of the words 'will return'.

But which all seems to suggest there's a backstory to it all rather than just the taxi run :-o

Well there is a prison in Greenock, Sussex, so that would certainly be convenient :-o

I almost googled his name earlier, but it sounded a bit generic, and thus lots of potential results, so didn't bother. But now gave it a go, and up came this from October 2020, and the ages fit. And Greenock isn't exactly a megatropolis, so I'd guess this is him. Can't find anything about what happened to him after this, but otherwise it all fits

Teen charged with knifing his ex-partner has failed in a bid to be released from custody

https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/new ... d-custody/

A TEENAGER charged with knifing his ex-partner whilst out on bail has failed in a bid to be released from custody.

Jamie Murphy has been locked up on remand since May accused of attacking the woman to injury within her own home.

Prosecutor David McDonald opposed bail, citing the 'serious nature of the allegations' against the 19-year-old.

Murphy is said to have repeatedly punched her on the head, threw furniture and other household items at her, seized her by the hair and punched her on the body multiple times.

He is further alleged to have compressed the woman's throat with his hands and struck her on the body with a knife.

Murphy is also accused of behaving in a 'threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm' by shouting, swearing, making threats of violence, brandishing a knife and striking walls with a knife.

He is further charged with possession of the class A drug ecstasy and with giving a false name to police with intent to pervert the course of justice.

The alleged offences are said to have been committed within a house near Greenock Prison and at the town's police office on May 14.

Murphy maintained pleas of not guilty to the indictment charges through lawyer Gerry Keenan at the latest calling of the case at the sheriff court.

The motion for bail was refused by Sheriff Joseph Hughes, with the case due to call again on December 8.

Depending on what sentence he was given for the knife attack, he may well have been out on license when he did what he did with the cabby.

But clearly he is a wrong'un, so if he is in custody, he is in the best place.

It's just a shame we don't send them to Australia anymore.
