No mention of the badging angle here. But presumably he told them nothing, and in truth there maybe wasn't much to tell them about, because he didn't really seek much in the way of medical help, and of course it's safe to assume he didn't tell the licensing authority about his use of illegal drugs :-|

Caerphilly taxi driver died from toxic drugs, inquest says

https://www.southwalesargus.co.uk/news/ ... uest-says/

A 38-year-old taxi driver died at his home in Caerphilly from the toxic effects of ketamine, an inquest has found.

Anthony Jamie Fullick, of Heol Cattwg, Gelligaer, Hengoed, was found unresponsive in the bath at his home address by a family member on October 27, 2025. Emergency services were called, but he could not be revived and his death was confirmed by paramedics at 5.10pm.

A record of inquest states Mr Fullick died at his home address on October 27, 2025, from the toxic effects of recreational ketamine use. His medical cause of death was recorded as ketamine intake, and Senior Coroner for Gwent Caroline Saunders concluded the death was drug-related.

The inquest was opened on January 6, 2026, and concluded on March 21, 2026, at Gwent Coroner’s Service in Newport.

In a written ruling, Ms Saunders said Mr Fullick had not regularly attended his GP practice and had no acute physical ailments. The ruling said he had presented to his GP in 2023 with symptoms consistent with post-traumatic stress disorder and was prescribed a short course of sleeping tablets, while a referral was also made to the Primary Care Community Mental Health Service for counselling.

However, the coroner said Mr Fullick did not respond to an offer of an appointment. The ruling also stated he regularly used illicit drugs but did not seek help from his GP, drug and alcohol services, or mental health teams.

Mr Fullick, who was born in Caerphilly on September 28, 1987, was identified by his sister.

He may well have reported this to his GP, but declined any assistance in dealing with it.

Maybe he was worried that the council would become aware of his addiction.

A GP would not have kept that information to themselves. More likely family or close friends knew

As for the bloke he clearly was ignoring the danger; ketamine is a very dangerous drug I am told.

Actually meant to post earlier that the GP presumably kept it to himself because of patient confidentiality stuff, and that it was thus odd if a drug addict could be driving a taxi but the licensing authorities couldn't be told about it :-o

But you could be right, Edders.

Although I suspect Sussex will know more about the patient confidentiality kind of stuff than either of us

You may not have been on here when the incident with me occurred a long time ago now late 1990's

I admitted to my Gp I might be a little tired due to the hours I was working. he wrote to the council who then told me my badge would be revoked if I did not immediately take a holiday

I had to take a holiday and prove I was doing so to the LO who then allowed me to keep my badge.

The GP in question almost immediately changed surgeries which suggests maybe he had breached ethics but nothing ever came of it and I didn't have to change doctors surgery

The doctor would keep it to himself, if indeed the driver even mentioned his occupation.

If I were a smack head, I would keep my occupation a closely guarded secret.
