Funny thing, again, is that these two crazies sound like a couple of kids 'oot playin', as opposed to what you'd expect from simply reading the article.

Kaydon McColl and Malachi Dixon, both now 20, robbed Just Eat worker before breaking female taxi driver's arm during an effort to steal money from her.

Two teenagers robbed a Just Eat driver in Dundee minutes before breaking a female taxi driver’s arm during an effort to steal £130 from her.

Kaydon McColl and Malachi Dixon, both now 20, appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court to admit two charges.

Dixon was brought from custody, while McColl attended via a videolink from HMP Polmont.

They admitted the assault and robbery of a delivery driver outside Taco Bell in Dundee city centre.

They also admitted severely injuring and permanently impairing a female taxi driver minutes later in another robbery.

Taco Bell target

Prosecutor Lee Corr told the court: “The complainer is a 30-year-old male Just Eat delivery driver.

“At 11.40pm on November 3, 2025, the complainer picked up a delivery order from Taco Bell on Reform Street.

“As he was leaving, Kaydon McColl attempted to grab his bag. A struggle thereafter ensued.

“Malachi Dixon thereafter threw punches striking him on the face area, knocking him to the ground.

“Kaydon McColl started to assault the complainer, shouting ‘f***ing p*ki’ and spat on him.”

McColl then threw a glass Buckfast bottle at the man. It missed and smashed on the pavement.

Dixon grabbed the man’s bag and ran off but the driver was able to recover it and went straight to the police station.

Second strike

Both accused, teenagers at the time, made their way to the taxi rank outside the McManus Gallery.

Minutes after robbing the Just Eat employee, they approached a 57-year-old female taxi driver who was parked at the rank.

Dixon confirmed with her he had attended her car the night before but never got in after realising he did not have enough money.

He got in the front and McColl got in the back, sitting initially in the middle seat.

They asked to go to Hebrides Drive but soon changed their mind and asked to reroute to the Jet garage on Forfar Road to get cash.

On realising the pair had no money, the cabbie pulled into a layby on Forfar Road and asked them to get out.

McColl moved into the seat behind hers and the woman was told by one of the teens: “You know what, I’ve got a knife.”

McColl put his hands around the cabbie’s neck from behind while Dixon rifled through her bag.

He eventually got her wallet and took £130 from her.

McColl shouted: “Just stab her, just stab her” as the woman tried to wriggle free.

She managed to hold down the horn but no traffic was passing at the time.

Driver fled after assault

The driver managed to open the drivers door and threw herself onto the road.

One of the teens kicked her on the face while she was down.

McColl continued shouting: “Just stab her, just stab her.”

A car finally stopped to help the woman and both teenagers ran off through bushes into Caird Park.

However, they had filmed part of the incident and could both be identified from the footage.

McColl can clearly be seen while cameraman Dixon can be heard declaring “we need to leave”.

The taxi driver was taken to hospital and underwent an x-ray which revealed a fracture to her right humerus.

She also had bruising on her face, arms and legs.

Medics kept her in overnight and discharged her at 11am with a collar, a sling and a referral to the fracture clinic.

She underwent surgery at the end of the month and spent weeks recovering, including undergoing physiotherapy.

She returned to work part-time but she still feels the effect when it is busy, the court heard.

Custody inevitable for ‘cowardly’ attack

McColl’s solicitor Jim Laverty explained background reports would be crucial before sentencing.

Dixon’s solicitor Rhona Lynch explained her client is serving a period of detention for other offending and will be behind bars until October.

Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith notes McColl’s convictions include culpable and reckless conduct in Ayrshire involving a bottle, assaults to injury in September 2024 and January 2025 and an assault to severe injury even more recently.

He added Dixon has in his record a conviction for possessing a knife in Glasgow.

The sheriff ordered background reports ahead of sentencing in August and both offenders will remain in custody.

He said: “Notwithstanding their relative youth, custody is inevitable.

“Insofar as both accused are concerned, they are 20 years of age. Kaydon McColl has an extensive schedule of previous convictions for someone of his age.

“Taking those antecedents into account and having regard to the serious nature of, in particular charge two, a cowardly attack on a vulnerable lone female in the course of her employment… the court recognises there is more to sentencing than simply sending a message to society, custody is inevitable.

“The court here is clearly considering the imposition of an extended sentence.”

The sheriff also noted Dixon is “clearly a potential danger to the public”.

He continued: “It’s clear that there are significant physical injuries, it’s also clear to the court that there will no doubt have been significant psychological trauma caused, all of which increases the seriousness.”

The pair broke a taxi driver's arm minutes after robbing the delivery driver.

A pair who broke a terrified Dundee taxi driver’s arm minutes after robbing a Just Eat driver have been sentenced to almost seven years in custody in total.

Kaydon McColl and Malachi Dixon, both 20, first targeted the delivery driver outside Taco Bell in the city centre on November 3 last year.

The female taxi driver was then left permanently impaired by the duo, who were teenagers at the time.

The city’s taxi community was hailed for rallying round the victim and supporting her financially after the assault left her unable to work for four months.

Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith said: “It was a vicious, cowardly attack on a vulnerable, lone female in the course of her employment.

“She endured a lengthy period of physical recovery.

“She needed to have her arm in a sling, with daily pain relief and was unable to attend to everyday basic tasks.

“She endured permanent physical impairment because of your attack.

“But for the generosity of the taxi trade in Dundee who supported her financially, things would have been significantly more difficult for her.”

Just Eat worker assaulted and robbed

Dundee Sheriff Court previously heard how the male Just Eat driver picked up an order at around 11.40pm from Taco Bell on Reform Street.

McColl tried to grab the 30-year-old’s bag and Dixon threw punches to his face, knocking him to the ground.

A Buckfast bottle was thrown by McColl, which missed the man and smashed on the ground.

The worker managed to wrestle his bag from Dixon and went straight to police headquarters nearby, on West Bell Street.

Minutes later, the frenzied pair approached a 57-year-old taxi driver who was parked at the rank outside The McManus.

McColl sat in the back seat with Dixon in the front and they asked to be taken to a petrol station on Forfar Road to obtain cash.

Backgrounds outlined in court

McColl and Dixon, both remanded at HMYOI Polmont, were sentenced after social work reports were prepared, having previously pled guilty to the two charges on indictment.

Defence solicitor Jim Laverty said McColl was “blessed” to have come from a supportive family, who were present in court.

He said: “He is remorseful, ashamed and regretful for what happened and for the injuries and psychological effects the attack had on the victim.

“His family do not in any nature, shape or form condone his behaviour but if he shows when released from custody he is willing to lead a pro-social lifestyle then they will support him in that.”

McColl, Mr Laverty said, was hoping to run his own car valeting business when his sentence ends.

Anthony Boland, representing Dixon, highlighted the stark contrast in the two men’s childhood and upbringing

Sheriff Niven-Smith said the social work report was so traumatic in its tenor that it read like a “work of fiction”.

“He has written a letter in which he says he doesn’t want to hide behind his past or his problems but he recognises that he can’t simply have innocent people bear the brunt of his issues,” Mr Boland said.

“It’s depressing that he’s described in the report that at the time of the incident he felt like he had nothing to lose.

“Mr Dixon has expressed remorse, he has expressed shame. It does seem genuine and he does wish, for what it’s worth, to publicly apologise.”

Sentences

McColl and Dixon were each sentenced to 40 months of detention and were made subject to supervised release orders lasting 12 months.

A seven-month consecutive sentence was imposed on McColl for other assaults – including an incident of breaking a man’s jaw – on summary complaint.
