Answer this one Tornarsehole.

A Sh**y Cab’s driver told me last night he was out of a job as the owner is set to retire. Nothing wrong with that you might say. The driver worked for the guy for 4 years, the so called owner told him on Tuesday the cab and plate was sold and him only to Friday before he is out of a Job. The only trouble is now he is struggling to get a drive. Apparently there are lots of drivers looking for fulltime nights. Not only that the owners he has contacted so far are looking for ½ the clock or £300 rentals for 7 nights regardless of whether or not he can only work 5.

Now tell me again about quantity controls and how it works.

The driver in question has two daughters in their early teens he hardly gets the chance to see.

I thought as a driver    you would appreciate this one.

And you wonder why I would burn pricks like you at the stake.

BTW a 5 night rental should be in the regions of £150-£180 pro rata with earning the same or less than we did in 2000-2001. A 40K plate should be in around 15-18k by my way of thinking. You might want to explain to everyone how a plate is worth 40k when we are earning less than we did in 2001.

sounds like the owner is a fecking prat hope he can sleep at night knowing that some poor guy is either out of a job or worse off thanks to his greed.

wonder if this will be a 40K to £700 case for the new owner :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: big risk to take at this time if u ask me.

but thats the problem with in your side of the trade skull
its a case of "iam all right jack but feck u "

For the uninitiated a 5 night rental in 2000-2001 was in the region of £180-£220 depending on what nights were included Fri/Sat etc.

Plate values were around 18-23K

Very true Chipper, I am probably just as bad as the owners in most respects but at least with me you have a choice.

If they want a restrictive market then all is fair in Love and War. What is up for grabs I will take. Their rules remember. On the other hand I will take my chances in a free market also. What I won’t do is stand ideally by and watch myself get humped from both the front and the back.

What do you want Chipper? Pay 40K for a job or your own plate with quality controls regulating the market with quality controls like the London model? Or maybe you want to drive a Ph?

There is no future as it stands. Last night had to be one of the worst nights I’ve had so far. Yes it might pick up in a few months time but in the long run it’s only going to get worse.

Spell it out for me Chip’s where do you see yourself working in the next 2 years and for how much?

well skull i drive PH right now and i own my own motor and only man it myself so i dont have to live with the sittuation that you fellow driver had 2 and i hope he gets a drive soon. i have seen PH drivers told they have 2 look for another drive at the end of the week some times the following day and that puts them in to a panic as they have bills to pay. not right at all. the least the ownner could have done with this bloke is tell him he was selling the thing and give him a chance to find another drive or buy the thing but sound like greed that he did not want to lose a driver.

i had a good night last night i think the glasgow run helped

where i will be in 2 years who knows but it wont be with a 40k price tag round my neck and a black over priced taxi thats for sure why would i want a 2nd mortgage. i have no axe to grind with you side of the trade but like you i feel every one has the right to work and be there own boss if they want.

but in saying that i have no dought that i will end up driving a black cab one day as most PH drivers do but thats not in my plans right now. as the hours and shifts i work suite family life right now

Honesty, rare qualities Chipper do yourself a favour and don’t be to honest. Most people don’t like the truth. If this is the path you are set on I wish you all the conflict you can take.

Trust me it’s just around the corner, embrace it, you won’t regret it.

you are right in saying that people cant handle the truth but then again the cant argue with the truth regardles if you are right or wrong even although they give it a good old try you know that as much as anyone.

there are changes coming to the TAXI trade thats for sure as there will be for the PH trade. the problem is that every one wants 2 blame someone else rather than them selfs.
there is one thing in life that is constant and that is change if every one thought that the taxi trade would stay the same forever is mad.
