And if Mike Dicko managed to pass the Liverpool PH knowledge then surely anyone can do it

On the other hand, that's pretty unremarkable compared to the fact that Charlie Slater managed to pass the Knowledge of London :D

Ah, yes, I'd forgotten about Corky's Cars. I can't actually recall Jimmy driving, just trying to run the show from a caravan, but I suppose he started at the bottom with the rest of us :D

Like you I had a “White collar job” ( Claims Examiner for Lloyds ) Hated it, all the office politics and being told what to do and when to do it

Now I’m a London cabbie ( Yellow badge ) and couldn’t be happier. It’s all about freedom for me but It’s fair to say it pay’s better than Lloyds did.

Green badge takes an average of four years to do, yellow takes about two. You will earn more with green.

I would certainly recommend mini cabbing whilst you are on the knowledge, as there is no better way of learning roads than driving them every day. You will earn more at some offices than others. Don’t be afraid to move on after a couple of days if the first office does not suit you. Remember as a driver you are the customer of the operator NOT his employee, that is something a lot of controllers forget. PH firms always have vacancy’s remember that.

Thanks Bart,]

That's very useful to hear.

For me too, its also about being free. We are all here to make a choice yet so many forget this and conform to whatever is asked of them.

I work for a rather prominent finance corporation in a prominent location and one would think I am barking mad to consider driving a taxi, but I think its all about happiness and not what 'looks' good to be doing. Society makes us believe the things which don't always bring the best things for us.

I love London and love seeing people, so a texi driver is something I imagine I really enjoy.

The only concern was salary, but I too think it could be comparable.

Thanks

Nah, theres too many Green badge cabby's, the latest on the grapevine is that Romford is the place to earn lots of money.

If I were you I'd apply for the Suburban sector that covers there.

Funny thing is we don't get too many Greenies working Romford even though they are entitled too.
