i started driving my ph car in november for a company in warrington cheshire(abba cars) i was hiring a car to start with in january i went for it and bought a brand new skoda for 10 grand had it plated and my data head fitted and of i poppped ..

i soon thought i had made a misstake here it was not the hours iits the fact that when i go away in my caravan for the weekend i am losing srious money so jacked it in leaving me 10 grand in debt whent back working for my old employer again and he is trearting me like [edited by admin]
my wife has said to jack it in and put my car back on as it still has its plate on

all i want is advice should i shouldnt i
best time s to work

i was doing 7.30-4.30 mon thurs, fri 7.30- 3pm friday night 8.30-2am
saturday 9.30 pm---3.30am

didnt work sundays also had wednesdays off as they were slack days



any advice will be greatfully recived in making my mind up i also have a wife and 1 child to think off .
on average i was taking £600/£700 per week i am in a job now were i get £250 a week doing 8.30--5.30 6 days a week

help please ...

Sunday aint a slack day mate, go out at 1pm and come home at 6 with an easy ton, no traffic (unless the wolves are at home).

Why dont you kill it for 3 out of 4 weeks and the 4th in your van?
Taxiing isnt really a socially pleasant job.but you can work around it.
Or call in the office and see the job counts for the week and decide your hours from that.

Why not work every other Sunday?

Then you will have the ££££s to go away at the other weekend.

What about working more nights earlier in the week, and a few more hours as well, which would still leave your weekend completely free?

Dunno about your manor, but in my experience any night is better than during the day.

When do you depart carravaning and when do you come back?

I suspect you could still make more than in your current job and still do the caravanning - you could experiment with your shifts until you find the right work/life balance, as they say these days

If I was you I would stick to the normal job, paid holiday's,sick pay, weekend's off. The only way to make money in this game is to work weekend's, and who want's to do that for the rest of thier life!!!

If I had my time over again I would NEVER have come into this industry.

Car break's down-no money, passenger doe's a runner-no money, phones not ringing in office-no money.

There are more minus's than plus's.

thanks for advice i would be going caravaning on the friday at about 4 back sunday teatime it would not be every weekend probally 1 in 4 sometimes maybe 2 in 4

At the end of the day only you can really know how to balance your work and private hours and compare the money you make now with driving and what you think of your other job compared to the driving.

But if you can at least do every other weekend then you should be OK. And of course possibly the main attraction of the job is that you can experiment and work your driving hours round your private life instead of the other way round

Abba mate, although i've only driven a week in the last god knows how long, maybe 7 months! i'm doing the new Bridge st office, crown st office and all the rest of the jobs that crop up!! (im a brickie by trade).

You need to adjust your hours to suit your pocket a week away every 4 is quite good, but you can do it if you stick at it and fine tune your day to suit the work thats about.
