If you are a MINI cab driver and you do drop off a customer on red A route, even if it's for 30 seconds and you are in view of CCTV you WILL get a ticket/fine in the post.

The office I work for has had a memo from the PCO about dropping of customers on red routes trying to explain that under no circumstances can a lisenced MINI cab driver can stop on a red route and drop off a customer......but a LONDON BLACK TAXI CAB can.

Does any body know where in law this exemption is?
It seems like discrimination to me?
Why should this be the case are we not doing the same job???

Welcome to the taxi/PH world.

The problem the legit London PH trade is they are still paying the price for the many years of non-legit trade.

As for the law, well it should be easy to change if Red Ken wants to. But that's a big fat if. :-$

TRy explaining to your customer's that you have to drop them 500 yards past where they want because you get a ticket, all they say is "but your a legal cab driver arn't you?"

It's just another way for the goverment to get money out of you!!!

We need a revaloution in this country!!!

I'm not so sure the gov are to blame, more like the black cab trade who can't hack fair competition.

I wrote a letter to transport for london(who operate the camera's) and told them that if they get into the dvlc computer to find out where I live to send the fine to, why can't they look on thier computer and see that I am a licensed private hire driver and not send me a ticket.

Guess what? i'm still waiting for a reply.

The trick is to drop passengers off in the middle off the road, only a police officer or a police traffic warden can give you a ticket.

The problem is mini cabs will be blocking the streets of london!!

Mind you that might make the pco/tfl get thier fingers out and solve the problem.

That's what we need to do, block the street's of London!!!

power to the people!!!

it may be a joke to you but the problem is real..

I don’t need to pick up a fare from the street cos I have not earnt the right to do that by passing the knowledge and I don’t even think that MINI cabs should even have the right to use bus lanes BUT and its a big BUTT we should be able to set down a fare without restrictions….

Could you pop down the West End at the weekend and explain that to your fellow drivers, who seem to think that they do have the right to pick up street hails?

Ta.

Friend.

I think it would be a good idea if the police fined the passengers in illegal mini cabs as well as the driver, it might act a a detterent.

I can say for a fact, out of all the touts I've personaly seen in action recently, the majority are African males, followed by Asian males.

Going back to the Eighties, there was a lot of White males but they seem to have faded away through the 1990's, and no doubt as time goes on the current ones will be replaced by the East Europeans out to make a fast buck.

But of course facts like the above will shock the left wing been bag owners into the usual chants of 'racist'.

The truth does'nt have a place in their rose tinted brains.

Green badge, you are 100% right, why is it when you tell the truth your called a racist.

TFL are running a campain about how women are getting raped by illegal mini cab drivers(I hate that phrase, it should be, bloke's in cars that shout "cab) I wrote to TFL and the metroplitain police and asked for the ethnic breakdown of the alledged rapist's, guess what? no reply.
