I have no problem with the Ph. They are the future. And you my old son, are the past. You’d better get use to the feeling of taking it up the a*** because this is your life from now on.

Enjoy sh** head.

Maybe they will call it the “Tale of the emasculated taxi driver” If you’d only had nuts to start with

Now what was it you were saying about your plate and your mortgage

once again i see that you are unable to offer any constructiave points to the topic.

most of the TAXI trade in edinburgh are fine but sad to say there are a few prats out there who just want to play the PH blame game and act like complete ImageImageImageImageImage on the road thats why "THE PRIVATE HIRE TAXI,S" are coming to get ya

whats with all the Smileys :?: :?: :?: :?: mind you when your 40k plate is about to go down the drain you have to smile Image

Gosh I am impressed.

I bet the Ph and Mr. Coutts are [edited by admin] in their pants.

The end of an era.

yes we are [edited by admin] in our pants skull the paper writes "PRIVATE HIRE TAXIS" and they get all upset. its not as if the paper has not miss quoted things b4 but then again some people like to work in a restricted market but not me.

the arguament that the "traffic management system would become unmanagable" is total Bull. look at the changes that we had a wee while back now thats unmanagable.

greenways acess will happen its just a matter of time just like the plate issue it coming but they just cant accept that it is. but then again stop PH getting in to greenways and WOW the PH trade falls down and the mighty 40k plate prices go up to 45K NOT

better go and change my pants now

I don’t know what it’s like in London GBC but if London Cabbies are anything like what we have up here you could find yourself in serious trouble.

Have a wee look on fasties, desperate people and all that.

Don’t get me wrong GBC. I would like to see them show some backbone but that would mean confronting the real issue. The C.E.C. controlling their trade.

I think the licensed taxi trade is very similar in any major city.
PH (Minicabing) down here is still seen as something you do between jobs, opposed to a career, because of the long hours involved and the comparitivley small returns you acheive in comparison with the Taxi side of things.

Some people like Eric seem to do well out of it, but then he owns several vehicles and is not simply a driver working for a company.

It seems up and down the country in whatever city you visit, most PH drivers are studying for the Taxi licence opposed to the PH side of things.

I've been a cab driver since December 1985, and can put my hand on my heart when I tell you I know of not one driver who has left our side to go onto the Minicabs. (by choice  )

I do however know countless Minicab drivers who have studied hard, acheived the Knowledge and swear they would never return there.

If PH were the future in Edinburgh I would be very surprised, Edinburgh would be unique amongst the cities of Gt Britain.

Regards, GBC

. . . . and similarly you may also do well to accept that you have some wrong 'un's amongst your colleagues chipper, who are clearly going out at the weekend to chance their arm for street work.

By the skin of my pants

The whole point here is whatever the business you set up for yourself is, if you are a PH driver, operator or a taxi driver each has it's own set of rules, time scale and investment, I won't tell you how much I have invested in my operation over the years, I do not even want to think about it. No we do not have to take the knowedge, but likewise no we can not pick up from the streets, so we have to invest considerable sums in advertising and marketing to get those prebooked cars coming in on a regular basis. Taxi's have invested their time doing the knowledge.

And there is a whole bunch of other costs involved, presuming of course you are legit, offices, planning permissions operators licensing ect. communications systems credit card and account booking fee's, vehicle licensing costs of and repairs. :-({|=

Think I might give the game up after reading that

The interesting thing here though is I am Scottish

All my family live in Dundee, Livingstone, Alva and St Andrews, on a recent visit to Dundee when we needed a Taxi my sister ordered a Merc from a private hire co, on the way out, but we got a taxi from the rank on the way back. This did show a trend in how punters choose who they use which I found very instresting, Suppose one gets a similar trend in London.

Regards Eric 8)

yes you are right there greenbadgecabby there are a few bad eggs in the PH side i just do my job the legal way as i have always said all iam intrested in is whats in my pocket at the end of the wk.
there a lot of PH who move over to the black cabs and maybe one day i will but right now iam happy where iam.

this issue is not about the PH driver getting to drive down the greenways its about that passanger getting a fare deal now i cant see whats wrong with that. remember its buses who use the greenways as well so we are fighting on 2 fronts to make a wage.
the claim that it will make the greenways less effective if we use them is just pure rubbish.

well i might just do that greenbadgecabby but fastblacks site is just anti PH would it make a Diff or would it just be a total slagging match????
even better why dont they join in the debate here? works both ways

P.S i did smile for the camera today

there is a place for TAXIS and PH in edinburgh why then cant both sides of the trade not get together and work it out.
then every one is happy and not fighting each other and the winner is the public

think iam going mad

Constructive points :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

You seem to think that by attacking the seagulling pieces of cr4p which for by your own admission form a small part of your trade, that I am attacking you. The only thing I am attacking you on is the fact that you have started believing old spaheid criminal thug skull that I have a plate - like you I don't own one. I dont want one. I want to be a lottery winner.

Skull goes on and on about PHC are the future, and claims to own his own PHC, why ask yourself is he still driving a licensed taxi and not a private hire taxi     Maybe cos he makes more money, and that he's fooling you and the rest of the PHC trade and usining you to get more plates which by HIS own admission in Canonmills he would "sell on to the stupid ar5eh0les out there wholl buy them" I have paraphrased slightly in the quote, but he's admitted that elsewhere on either this forum on over on Fastblacks. I definitely remember seeing it, but dont care to spend time looking for it, as hes no worth it.            GBC made the point about London, but it's true in Edinburgh, other the the airport taxis that sold their plates, how many ex taxi drivers have CHOSEN to move over to your side, even the slapheided criminal thug hasn't done that yet

As for putting your faith in Mr Coutts, just remember his last little venture to avoid complying with Licensing regulations, that time in the pub game? Where's Da Da Da now :?: :?: :?: :?:

I don't know what all the fuss is about but when i get a fair to Edinburgh I always try to use the bus lanes, but sometimes you can get stuck behind the dam things, so i have started to stay out of them and find it quicker. The best thing for the PH up there would be a roof sign issued by they who must be obeyed, even a sign that runs from front to back like the Yanks have on the yellow cabs, or have all the PH one colour, yellow would be a start
And don't think I'm taking the p''s as I'm thinking of going PH myself due to the proposed hike in fairs for the borders, if they go ahead we will have the highest fairs in Scotland, we will find out next wed the 19th when the commissioner decides.

Not so sure about that. :?

In most areas down here, if not all, it's the same criteria for PH as HC. So there is nothing to study for even if we wanted too. :?

Quite common in restricted areas.

Restricted taxi plate-holders sell their plates and work un-restricted PH.

I can still remember when edinburgh taxi drivers had a demonstration, similar to todays. It was against the council putting on more plates.
Wait a minute ! if I am not mistaken, The skull was the lead taxi!!!
Funny how things change.
