P222 tells me some wonderful stories about you. How you were going to stop the council from putting more plates on. How you were going to f**k the ph.

People do change.

Often it's the lads who get their plates then wanting the door to close on the rest, or the lads who have sold their plates wanting the door to open.

You are living in a dream world Ross.

Firstly, the Cab Trade Protest you allude to was about 6- 7 years go, if my memory correct, and no I was not lead car.

Secondly, there were only a couple of hundred Ph. The Ph was not a problem. Even the Mobile phone was in its infancy.

And thirdly, not only were there plenty of jobs for drivers there was very little profit in plates. The plates did not accrue a value until about 2000-2001.

BTW did you hear Jim and I on talk radio setting the story straight?

You seem to think that by attacking the seagulling pieces of cr4p which for by your own admission form a small part of your trade, that I am attacking you.

well yes you are as you make out that we all go seagulling at the weekends and thats just not the case so please dont make out that we do why would i put my job on the line for some drunk??? if others want to thats for them to take the risk especial if the have a RTA then they are buggered. there will always be some who will break the rules and that goes for the rules that the black cab trade follow.

Skull goes on and on about PHC are the future, and claims to own his own PHC, why ask yourself is he still driving a licensed taxi and not a private hire taxi     Maybe cos he makes more money, and that he's fooling you and the rest of the PHC trade and usining you to get more plates which by HIS own admission in Canonmills he would "sell on to the stupid ar5eh0les out there wholl buy them" I have paraphrased slightly in the quote, but he's admitted that elsewhere on either this forum on over on Fastblacks. I definitely remember seeing it, but dont care to spend time looking for it, as hes no worth it.            GBC made the point about London, but it's true in Edinburgh, other the the airport taxis that sold their plates, how many ex taxi drivers have CHOSEN to move over to your side, even the slapheided criminal thug hasn't done that yet

iam only intrested in my future and the right to give my passangers the best deal. i dont have any problems with the TAXI trade but you would fight for somthing if you thought it would help you buisness would you not.
i have no clue what TAXI drivers make but it is prob a wee bit more that the PH drivers do. i have talked to a few blokes who moved form TAXIS to PH in edinburgh

Mr Coutts last business venture involved not bothering with the Licensing laws as they apply to Public houses and opened what was to all everyone's eyes a pub, complete with live music, but was happily trying to manipulate the Licensing Laws by claiming it was some sort of restaurant, so didn't need to comply with the Licensing Laws as they apply to pubs.         That was the establishment in Shandwick Place called Da-Da-Da, it's now shut, shut, shut.

The point I was making was that he's now trying to run taxi's without complying with taxi conditions and licensing, and rather than try and get the conditions changed tries to strong arm the police and council into ignoring the law to suit him.

He laughingly  asks for a level playing field, and a fair deal for the public. There's nothing to stop his drivers knocking off the extra £3 he claims the lack of greenway access costs the public. It only costs the public cos his drivers charge it, not the council, the fare on the meter is only a maximum, not an absolute. Notice I don't see him asking for all PHC drivers to pass a topographical knowledge test or sit those ridiculous Telford modules, or run an all wheelchair accessible fleet. He wants to run a taxi service without meeting the licensing conditions, let's hope his previous venture isn't an indication of the future of his current venture. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

I am happy to hear you are one of the more reputable operators of a PHC, and unlike some taxi drivers dont have problem with you doing your job, its the seagulling thieves acting illegally, maybe if the reporting to the police of illegal ranking was to come from some of what you claim are the majority of law abiding PHC drivers then the Police would take more action and the minority would be driven out. Its your trade, dont let the b4st4rds give you the bad name you currently get.

Nice to see your chums on fasties have got me back on the agenda. I was beginning to think they had forgotten about me. Jim is a bit pi**** off not being as high profile as myself and wants to know what he can do to raise it ? :D :D :D :D

Don’t tell me you haven’t heard about us on Talk 107 spilling the beans over the council run cartel.

Now I want you to consider your abuse, its getting a bit repetitive, I think a little originality is called for.

Private hire drivers in court threat after greenways demo

PRIVATE hire drivers have threatened to take the council to court after staging a protest against a ban on them driving in bus lanes and greenways.

A procession of about 40 vehicles drove along greenways from Regent Road and along Princes Street today from 11am, with signs in their vehicles saying "Let us give our passengers a fare deal". They caused minor congestion but there were no arrests and drivers praised police for their handling of the situation.

However, the drivers have threatened to "up the ante" in their efforts to get the council to open up greenways for private hire drivers in the same way the authority has for black cabs. The drivers claim council policy puts them at a disadvantage because they are liable to get stuck in traffic, meaning their passengers see their fares increase as the clock ticks up during congested peak times in the city centre.

Festival City Cars boss, David Coutts - one of the organisers of the protest - said: "All we are looking for is a level playing field. "There's plenty of business for everyone - private hire firms and black cab drivers. "The police have been tremendous and it is now time for the council to act. "We can easily up the ante. If we asked all private hire drivers to use bus lanes all the time, it would be chaos.

"But if the council does not look at this quickly we will hire a top lawyer and take it to court. "We have got two or three options and we will decide which to take at a meeting coming up soon. The police have been great and we will consult with them before taking any further action."

The protest was supposed to start at 9am at Maybury Junction, but the organisers changed the time and location to cause minimum disruption to other road users.

You don't need a good lawyer to beat Edinburgh council in court, in fact you don't need a lawyer full-stop, just a judge that knows the law.

I don’t think David Coutts has thought this through. This is the last thing the council needed at this time. More Hacks means less Ph remember. I am not saying an increase in Hacks would wipe out Ph but it would put a serious dent in their fleet. Mr. Coutts has given the situation a higher profile from the angle of derestriction. [-o<

The council only have to de-restrict to shut him up.

The last thing he would be thinking about is getting into the greenways.
