If indeed this rubbish was penned by Wayne Casey .The mighty leader of the N T A. One wonders how some one, who shows such poor judgment, with this pathetic, infantile, attempt at humour , could be leader of any thing. Perhaps Wayne should consider his position .
When he was reasonably anti-restricted numbers (or at least neutral about the subject) I often wondered why he was in the NTA at all, particularly at a senior level, given that the association's main policy was apparently at odds with his own.
Then of course he changed tack, but he still uses his column(s) to express his personal views rather than that of the NTA, while you might expect that he'd try representing the views of his members. Then again, perhaps the leadership don't like him speaking for the association, since he has developed into something of a loose cannon, in my opinion at least.
Thus a complex character, and one that's difficult to rationalise, but I think the key is in the reason why he changed tack over the most important issue in the trade, which seemed to be because of a personal spat on here.
But if something like that can change someone's mind so fundamentally then this perhaps says a lot about the person involved, and I suspect his lack of principle seems to be because basically he craves attention, thus when it wasn't going his way on here he thought it better to seek adulation elswhere and in another way, thus the series of articles, forum etc with TDO being the centre of critical attention.
I hope he's happy being hailed as a hero by the likes of the people who frequent his/Nigel's forum, but I suspect that the more open-minded don't take him seriously any more - I certainly don't.
Which is a shame, because he is knowledgeable, does have persuasive views and does wield some influence, but there surely comes a time when people can't be bothered sifting the wheat from the chaff and instead ignore him altogether
