oh ya they like to make you out to be a villan they did that here with a story from kerry katonia i think i went like i got into a taxi very drunk and passed out on the back seat luckily the driver knew who i was and where i lived but anything could have happend and then they blew the all male taxi drivers will attack you and quoted about recent instances in th news but that was happening in manchester with unlicenced cab touts warrington hasnt had a inccident like those portrayed by pink ladies in the last 10 years at least

and yes they a fully licenced private hire vehicles in warrington and in st helens where did eventually start up also and the pink colour on the renault kangoo's is actually a vinyal wrap because they say they don't want to sell on any pink vehicles so someone else can't pose as them go figure i would love to get a pink TXII just to see what they

sounds more like pink rip offs, errm I'll add an allegedly there too

this bit was good in the taxi vs. private hire section

Will we ever be Pink Ladies Taxis?
There is no intention to become a taxi company. We are a members only club, which provides safe and secure transport for ladies. We never carry males except children under the age of thirteen.

Errm and also that due to licensing law 1847 act & 1976 act a hackney carriage is obligated to take fares regardless

How Pink Ladies protect you?

No CRB, No Regulatory checks, errm no one accountable save for the franchise

oh yes we have reached the promised land

All of our drivers are trained in self defence and basic first aid in case of an emergency.

errm first aid? hope they have a really good public liability insurance as last time i heard ambulance crews dont touch people who have been touched by first aiders

We will only take a booking in the office when we have drivers available at that specific time which means that we will not turn up late for you.

errm great idea, service when it suits the driver....sounds a little like dereged Carlisle (couldnt resist that one TDO  )

Pink Ladies also believe in a through the door policy which means that we always make sure you are safely inside your destination before we drive off.

errm thats kinda the policy for most PH and taxi firms

All of our cars are no older than three years of age so they are always in good working order and are safe for you to be in.

now thats reassuring, heres me thinking the 2 & 3 tests per year by my LA were a little outrageous.

And there coming to Glasgow
here is a copy and paste of the item

Pink Taxis for Pink Ladies
Late night revellers in Glasgow may shortly be forgiven for thinking they are seeing pink elephants. However, it will be a new women-only Pink Lady private hire taxi service which uses vehicles painted shocking pink. The company uses Barbie-pink Renault Kangoo cars and the women drivers wear pink outfits. The drivers are trained in first-aid and self-defence to make their female passengers feel extra safe. The cabs will be pre-booked and drivers will text or call the passenger when they arrive to pick them up. In order to get round discrimination laws, members sign up for the service online for a £1 fee (10% of which goes to charity) and so it operates like a private club. In a separate initiative, all private hire taxi firms in Glasgow will automatically send a text message to the mobile phone of female customers informing them of the vehicle's type, colour and registration number

Remember 20 odd + years ago when the big boys hit the every town, a franchise, called "Intercab taxis ", was going to clean up everywhere, they started, but the the owners paying the franchise got sick and fed up of paying and it all fizzled out

I see in the blog on the link, all Pink ladies taxis [pardon the expression]
use this in their tyres, this is something frowned on my tyre companies and if you have had that stuff in your tyres they won't touch em

it will fail.
we know and in time they will know it.
the only niche market in this trade.
is the top end.
not the bottom. we can all deal with that.
and we are all fully licensed.

I can't really see the point of promoting the self-defence aspect either - is the driver going to be leaping to the defence of the passenger in the unlikely event that the latter is attacked by a third party?

Self-defence would surely only be relevant in respect of a passenger attacking the driver, thus perhaps the Pink Ladies are more worried about their female passengers than the female passengers are worried about male drivers.

But in view of some of the woman you see coming out of pubs these days this is hardly surprising. :?
