We have Captain Cab on one side who tells us everyone who pays 40k for a plate is a “Mug”. Then wants everyone to pay it because it’s not a cartel it’s just a lot of happy “mugs” with 40K. Then we have Ross the defender of everything with the word “Taxi” written on it, taxi driver, taxi plate, taxi tariff, taxi T shirt, taxi jumper, taxi tyre on and on and on. Hasn’t a fu***** clue who he’s fighting for but hey who needs to know, he’s a “taxi driver” and bloody barking into the bargain.

Then we have Skull, who blames everyone and everything for his own failings.

A person who gets a free plate and then sells it, only to return once more denouncing the very thing that made him thousands of pounds, wishing to crash a system that has worked reasonably well for over 150 years.

A person so stupid he see's a conspiracy between an elected local authority and a group of approaching 1000 businessmen fixing prices.

A person who hates the trade, yet will spend thousands to obtain a plate through court fees to take a place within it.

A person who rather than pick up a wheelchair passenger, will organise a 'risk assessment' to avoid the need (okay allegedly  ), then blame the local authority for not advising him of the health and safety at work act.

I really do wonder if the rise of private hire within Edinburgh isnt due to people such as this man. If you refuse and insult enough passengers, for sure they'll go somewhere else.

Have a nice weekend, golf tommorrow, then Yorkshire for a long weekend (because I'm a taxi baron who has never bough a plate in his life)

Carlisle United Division 2 Champions 2005 / 06

Not me my old chum I don't measure success and failure the way you do.

150 years of happy mugs remember or didn't you want these mugs to spend the money?

Obviously on past experience Edinburgh licensing department and councillors think they don't have to comply with statutory laws, this is another example of total disregard for the legislative process.

However if I was being fair to the licensing department I would have to say that there are probably other councils who have or might make the same mistake?

I objected to a fair rise in the Borders so what'''' I only did it to stop the fairs being the second highest in the country and to keep on working will find out next week if I was successful

Its everyones right to object to a councils decision no matter what it is? The general concensus is that Edinburgh council made a cock up by implemting the fare rise before the statutory period for objections had expired.

The whole point of advertising the review is to invite objections, so you are only doing what your entitled to.

From my experience fare reviews are decided by only a handful of drivers, so more fool them if they can't be bothered to consult with who they pretend to represent. 8-[
