Did i take a risk? yes, in hindsight perhaps i did - ok, i'm lady driver aged 49ish.... :D working nites Hackney carriage quiet circuit. Friday night, been at station, half past midnite and off to sit at the one and only nite club in our area. 2 fellas get in, early 20's - very quiet, not talking, didn't give me an address just said they wanted out along the main road, well, i just KNEW they were gonna be runners, i just KNEW - and, i was right. Thing is, i read on here about putting car into reverse as you stop so that its really hard for them to get out of a moving reversing car, - well, thats what i did, where i stopped i made sure no parked cars, into reverse and drove - one of them got out somehow, the other still stuck in car. I locked the doors and drove forward, pressed panic button  and drove, telling him i wanted my money (ok only £8.60 but its the principle) thinking any sec. now i'll see a police car, or a colleague will catch up with me. Fella now saying 'oh my God woman' and '****ing hell', yeah, he was worried - passed me a tenner and said 'there's a fiver' he was going through his pockets looking for change :D Anyway, after what seemed a lifetime but was prob. 10 seconds i stopped and told him to get the **** out - as he got out i said 'by the way, that was a tenner not a fiver, now **** off ha ha, which he did. After he'd gone i started shaking, called home for cuppa and realised maybe i shouldn't of done that? it worked fine, thanks to the tip of putting car in reverse, (thanks to this forum :D .... anyway, i'm sitting here now with cuppa and adrenalin is rushing. I realise no fare is worth danger but i felt he wasn't at all violent just a total [edited by admin] and loser and i wasn't prepared to get what would of been my 3rd runner. I won't put myself in danger, maybe i won't do that again, i don't know, think the fellas on the circuit will prob. tell me not to do it again, but, well, just thought i'd tell you it worked for me 2nite......

These w*nker's think they can just run off without paying the fare, and he had money in his pocket!!!!!
You would have been within your rights to run him over :D

I think it's amazing what people can do when the adrenalin is pumping.

You did what you thought best at the time, and thank the lord it turned out ok. \:D/

Do yourself a favour if you are going to pull stunts like that you’ll need back up in the shape of a high pressure antipersonnel spray. There is one on the market that sprays indelible ink. Sprayed in the eyes it will stop him dead in his tracks and it’s legal. The bonus is the police can find your attacker as the ink takes a couple of weeks to ware off.

Once you have hit him in the eyes use a maglite to put him away, a wee panic alarm at this point would further disorientate him and the noise would bring people running or at least force him to try and escape.

Saying that you could just beat his brains out and dump him somewhere.

Can't remember where you get the spray although I am sure it's on the net somewhere.

However, a dummy cctv camera (with sign's pointing to it) might be a better way of nipping it in the bud before it happens.
he could have got nasty.

Feels good tho dunnit

I dont know about "people getting out of a moving reversing car" would that not leave you open to a charge of dangerous driving or worse case scenario causing death by dangerous driving resulting in a long holiday at the Queens pleasure, I believe the sentences range between 2-14 years for these offences, £8.60 = 14 years imprisonment :?

I think if you want to drive a Taxi at night anywhere in the UK these days you had better get used to it, carry on in the way that you are and it will be you who suffers in the end, me, I have certainly lost over three hundred pounds over the last few years and if it's only the third time it's happened to you count yourself lucky.

At the end of the day you are dealing with Adult children really, often drunk, often they have taken some "recreational" drug, often suffering from some mental/emotional disorder, sometimes just the detritus of the damaged divided society we find ourselves living in.

I personally find the younger ones who have taken drugs to be the hardest to deal with, that incoherent babbling and their chaotic thought process certainly confuses me, but what do you do, some of them are just kids really, they need protecting from themselves rather than being sprayed in the eyes with an indelible stain, or worse still, being crushed by a reversing vehicle or battered with a torch.

Maybe you should ask yourself if you are really suited to the job, theres enough rubbish to deal with out there without you lot exacerbating the situation with your joint psychopathies.

Yeah and taxi drivers who frequent Fasties are the worst.

Only you could take things out of context to such an extent and then paint yourself out to be Mother Teresa

Don't worry Stu when it comes to needing a bench mark to gauge our sanity we will always use you.

Sorry about that people this is Stu from Edinburgh (fasties). I don’t know where we get them but trust me Edinburgh is full of them.

Ha Ha Skull, your getting worse or is that better, I am not really sure :? I think your desire to get even is clouding your judgement, one of your kids goes out to a club, gets [edited by admin] or takes some drugs, a lot of them do,gets a Taxi home, a young person just doing what every other young person does, no money at the other end, gets crushed under a reversing vehicle or gets one of your maglites over the head, would you find that okay?

Also remember the thin Skull rule  I never said you wont ever find yourself in a situation where drastic measures may have to be taken, but for £8.60!!

This happened to me last night(sat).

I'm sat there controlling, it's about 2am and a bloke walk's in and ask's for a cab, I tell him it's about a 20 minute wait and the fare. He start's telling me it's a rip off and he shouldn't have to wait for 20 minute's and start's swearing and shouting at me.

He then start's calling me a c*nt and banging on the window and ask's me to come outside for a fight, so I jump's up and say's "ok", by the time I walked round to the front he had legged it!!!!

I know I should have ignored him but he wound me up so much I couldn't help it.

Front 'em and they bottle it!!!!

The thing is it all seems so infantile to me, lets swap stories and methods of, as Skull said "getting even" I am aware of the escalation in this sort of thing, but I just think if you develop the wrong mindset about this, it is you who will ultimately suffer the consequences, it's one thing if you have to use your hands, quite another to use a vehicle or a heavy blunt instrument or a pen or suchlike to inflict an injury on someone for a few pounds, and remember as far as the original post mentioned there was no threat of violence only of a theft.

Although I admire tb2's actions, in situations like this discretion is often the better part of valour, and things like this can easily backfire. And even if they only take a kick at your car, it can still end up costing a lot, and the fact that you've 'had a go' isn't much consolation if you've got a few hundred quid's damage to the car or worse.

Of course, it all depends on the circumstances, and if we all just caved it at the slighest thing then it would just get worse.

I don't quite get this reversing thing though - even apart from the possibility of injury, what happens when you stop reversing - you can't go on all night.

And I'm sure that in a scenario like that there's a fair chance I'd reverse into something.

Stu it has to be said “you are absolutely barking". You are confusing me with someone who cares.

When the chips are down you do what you have to do at the time. I won't be there to make the judgment call.

That will be your choice and yours alone.

I've seen "kids" as you put it kick people unconscious. I would rather it was them and not me.

If trueblue2 ever has to defend herself I hope she has the opportunity to do exactly that.

Violence should always be a last resort but in extreme circumstances it is sometimes inevitable.

Do us all a favor Stu and save us the all seeing all understanding social working bullshit. If you ever find yourself on the ground with the boots coming in you can rest assured the crap you spout will be the farthest thing from your mind.
