no captain what he means is he runs the cab, it is parked at his door, he collects the rental from any other driver, hands in chucky slips, see's to repairs etc washes the car, basically a total bum boy.
and he's happy that he can be a psuedo owner and doesnt mind that the owner only charged him , the wage rise that has taken 2 years to come around
ross probably gets beaten off his owner daily and is probably very happy and gratefull for it.

Well I'm glad you cleared that up maybe you and Ross should keep it a secret though You're not related in any way are you Wayne?

hmmm, Gary, coming from an unemployed cab driver, who hates the cab trade I'll take what you write with a pinch of salt :D

Presumably Ross is earning enough and happy ( he did post much the same)

"an unemployed cab driver" you have got to be joking do you really think I need this job like you or Ross?

The games fecked it has been for sometime and it's only going to get worse. I personally have no more time to waste.

It's just got to expensive to work in even if you have your own cab.

Anyone out there sitting on a plate and not selling it is off their F****** heads. The guy I drove for did the right thing and he's went back to plastering for a living.

Strangely enough I've got another mate packing in and going back to his trade and guess what he's a plasterer as well.

I was making more money 10 years ago for less hours  and my costs were a hell of a lot less than they are now

Captain cab.

The term transport manager in our neck of the woods, was used many years ago when a driver was in charge of the day to day running of the taxi. It was a term used more tongue in cheek than anything else.
You would keep the taxi clean, put the taxi in for a service or repairs, keep the tyres legal, collect and hand in credits only when the owner was on holiday, generaly keeping the taxi on the road.

What do you get in return ?

Cheaper rental, and less time off the road.

PS I dont pay the bills.

It seems nowadays if someone does something wrong or illegal, it always turns into a personal attack on that individual, an injustice of the highest kind, not that in fact they've been caught red handed, and at the end of the day after they have spent a fortune defending their unlawful actions and making lots of noise in the process, they're still found to be at fault.

A very perceptive and eloquent passage, which I concur with entirely.

A related problem is that some will take that view in relation to the conduct of others, but not as regards their own.

Yes I would agree entirely but how many times do you punish someone? Who administers the punishment and to what extent before justice is served?

You can’t seriously think the PCO or the council should be handing down punishment on top of what the law decides?

Ali got a month’s suspension for questioning the lawfulness of the Regulatory Meeting it had nothing to do with a parking fine.

I told the council to revoke the licence if I was indeed not a “fit and proper person” there response was to suspend me for a month. I asked them how I become “fit” after a month not one of them could give me a reply.

The truth is Ali and I stood up against the establishment and they beat us as an example to all of you. It had nothing to do with justice fair play or the law. It’s about forcing people to accept their place in the food chain. Regardless of the injustices perpetrated against them by the system. A system which is supposed to protect and treat everyone equally, which is absolute bollocks of course but there you go some people believe it.

I'd have to disagree, although not entirely!.

I think the licensing laws a perfectly adequate in terms of the driver.

As skull points out in the above post,

Skull is quite correct, how can the licensing authority assess if a person is fit and proper with a one month suspension? (the council bais for a suspension is on the fitness and propriety of the person in front of them)

Obviously in England anyone suspended by the LA has the statutory right to appeal to the magistrates court.

There has recently a couple of drivers successfully getting LA decisions overturned (in respect of 3 & 6 month suspensions) here, suspensions totally out of context with the original offences.

I agree but the cost of taking the council into court is prohibitive and they know it. This is why the suspension is normally a couple of months. Had they revoked my licence they stood to be sued for the improper use of the system, I knew it and so did they. This is why I was pushing them to revoke my licence.

Point 1: Keep your sexual fantasy's to yourself.

Point 2: I'll never be caught, because I apply common sense to the situation.

Point 3: I've never had to 'give them' anything to them as you say, but then I've got had an unblemished record for 21 years now. :D
Maybe thats because I just get on with driving a Taxi without making a big hoo ha and constant drama out of it?
Its quite easy really, start the engine, drive into London, then people start waving at me saying 'I want to give you some of my money'
Nothing could be simpler.

Point 4. Thanks, I'll try. \:D/
