I FIND it amazing that even although the vast majority of the people in the taxi trade did not want the new E7 taxi vans, the council is going to licence the things anyway ("Green light for big new cabs", News, June 2).

What is the point in debating the issue, if the majority are not listened to?

OK, so if a majority of the public want cheaper taxi fares, then the councils should decrease them?

Thus I don't think it's just a simple matter of numbers for and against.

Thanks to the introduction of other taxi vehicles, the current London Taxis International (LTI) vehicles are now worth next to nothing.

This looks like Planet Zog stuff, so no point in reading the rest of the letter :?

A TAXI manufacturer has vowed to fight plans to lift an age-old restriction on the style of the city's black cabs which could pave the way for greener and more wheelchair-friendly taxis.

Now there's a surprise. :D

I was just wondering if all the LTI drivers are enjoying driving around in this wonderfull hot weather we are experiancing and what do they say to their punters when asked, do you have any airconditioning driver? lol.

It should be interesting but haven't several other licensing authorities in Scotland removed the turning circle requirement?

With Leicester imminent it appears LTI are going to be pretty busy over the next few months? I wouldn't mind betting Manganese Bronze shares start on the slide in the next few days. Perhaps they will do a Marconi and sink into oblivion?

Chipper you show your ignorance with your remarks about the TX11, tell me why they are "Junk", this seems like the usual LTI bashing that goes on in the world of Taxi forums.

How do you know any other vehicle will be any better or worse than the TX11?

Mine just open the windows, seems to work quite well, theres no point adding to the greenhouse gasses by running the air conditioning, also it's just another thing to go wrong.

So your saying opening the windows has the effect of cooling you down? Only the TX2 gold has airconditioning as far as I'm aware and I wonder how many of those were sold this year?

I've driven most LTI vehicles over the years and in all of them in the hot weather it was like sitting inside an oven.

I also have a saloon vehicle that has airconditioning and I can assure you it works perfectly and is a joy to drive.

If you say you are comfortable driving an LTI vehicle in the hot weather I doubt many will believe you?

Regards

JD
