When its wet or icy have you ever tried an emergency stop with no abs and just for good measure on a hill
The Euro cab will stop in under half the distance, and with it having abs you can control the direction you want to go as you still have steering, and there is more room for wheel chairs and passengers and they have 6 or 7 seats 8 if you want to, so you can get more free paying under 12s in    so the punters will love them more than the tx      8)
Oh I forgot the 5 year UNLIMITED MILAGE WARENTIES so It wont cost a penny to fix in the unlikely event of anything going wrong, and the extra 15 miles per gallon even more on a long run and no more steamy windows due to the very good air conditioning

Well the LTI vehicles will also have ABS shortly I believe? I have managed for 25 years without ABS and never had a blameworthy accident.

Well Mr Honest Scotsman you still have the opportunity of a nice shiny TXIII when they hit them market, not only that you can tell them to omit the ABS. I'll take a bet you might even get it a bit cheaper now that Lti have some competition.

This is a win win situation for guys like you

I have no issue with ABS or ESP or anything else for that matter, but the point is that it will be law for every vehicle to have it.

Well then you win again as you said before the new TXIII will be fitted with ABS.

Are you sure it's not your birthday?

You'd be surprised!, if anything that percentage would be the other way round, the loss of the "turning circle" would be a disaster in Edinburgh. Next time you are dropping off in the waverly "skippy" just watch the differance between black cabs and other taxi vehicles turning to get out.

What I have been hearing is that the Tx111 has to be fitted with ABS and it is not technically possible to have that as well as the 25ft turning circle.
Does anyone know if that is true?

If it is then it puts the whole debate about vehicle choice in a differant light I think, although the feedback on a used E7 is still a bit worrying.

Jack.

At the moment you are quite correct, but that looks set to change if the info on the tx3 is correct.

Chipper you show your ignorance with your remarks about the TX11, tell me why they are "Junk", this seems like the usual LTI bashing that goes on in the world of Taxi forums.

How do you know any other vehicle will be any better or worse than the TX11?

ok Mr Honest Scotsman it was a JOKE and nothing to do with ignorance.
the reason i think they are "junk" is quite simple i have talked to a good few taxi drivers who tell me that they are total junk and the trade in value on the TX2s is crap.

HaHa Chipper :? Point is they may be "junk" according to your sources but on the whole they give good service if properly maintained, remember some of them are running 24/7 it would be a miracle if any vehicle put through the rigours of taxi work never developed any faults.

Mine just open the windows, seems to work quite well, theres no point adding to the greenhouse gasses by running the air conditioning, also it's just another thing to go wrong.

Opening windows can do the trick under certain circumstances, but on a long run on fast roads in hot weather you'll have constant annoyance from wind noise and you'll still feel like you're in an oven, only a slightly cooler one.

And of course opening windows consumes more fuel as well

They have wind deflectors Dusty 8) no increase in greenhouse gasses, the air just slips over it.

Now I dont wish to get involved in a slanging match here but your post is very misleading.

I have indeed done emergency stops without ABS, actually I have never driven a vehicle with ABS, the thing that worries me is that this drivers aid and any others come to that, seem to make people think that they will be invincible when driving, this may lead to a higher rate of accidents due to driver risk compensation or risk homeostasis to give it another name, what it really means is that because you identify a risk in a system, and that risk is then designed out, you will take compensatory risks in another part of the system  thats the theory anyway, but you have already stated that the euro cab will stop in half the distance of a TX11, I doubt the braking distance would be shortened by that amount actually on some surfaces I would imagine it to be longer or about the same.
