While I support peoples right to post anonymously on this and any other site I would just like to make one point.

It is very difficult to follow the drift of a discussion if you have two or three posters appearing as 'guest' in the same debate.

Is it not possible to format the forum so you at least have to enter a title for the poster.

Unfortunately it's not Tom, short of making posting available to only those registered.

There are three main options, obviously the first one is used at the moment.

1 Viewing and posting open to everyone.

2 Viewing open, posting by registered members only.

3 Viewing and posting only available to registered members.

Obviously none of these options is perfect, and all have been tried on other forums at one time or another, and all have pros and cons. But any comments would be welcome.

I would prefer option 2.
I do not see what problem there is to being a registered member with a user name .........for continuity at least.
Scanner

I prefer option 1, but it would be nice if the dozens of Mr Guests changed their names to whatever.

And if we suddenly get a lot of Mr Whatevers, then whatever. :? :? :?

From those choices I prefer the status quo.

Just a polite request to those who post simply as 'guest' to get a handle.

That way we could work out which guest is arguing against which guest. It would make the debate easier to follow.

I'm inclined towards option 2 - from the point of view of posting it's only a small step to log on, and the posts can still be read without having to log on.

There are other advantages as well - the other day I spent ages looking for something posted by a guest that I had meant to reply to - if the poster had been registered I could have use the option to view all their posts and finding the relevant one would have been easier.

Funny thing was, I was searching for something the other day.

I couldn't find it anywhere. I must have gone through the nearly 5,000 posts, but still couldn't find the bloody thing.

Then I realised it was on another taxi-site. Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

so we were saved from a fate worse than death, was it a missed opportunity to have a go at T and G, or was it just in afterthought to have a go at somebody else?

I promised myself I would not post anymore but could not resist
