GMB members and indeed non members are now demanding we organise a day of action involving traffic chaos to further a campaign for parity with black cabs.A meeting to discuss this has been arranged for the 19th July by the GMBPDB and the Lambeth mini cab Forum venueto be announced this is an open meeting all welcome. last week the Private Hire Board met and declined to take part,in any action but will be at the meeting ,maybe because they dont pay the FINES Also invited the PCO TFL GLA So if you have a view or indeed the backbone to fight for your livliehood ,and are prepared to come out of your veil of secrecy now is your chance. By the way admission is free LMF and GMB will meet the costs of the venue SEE YOU THERE!

The above was posted by someone claiming to be the 'GMB branch secetary' ( ) on Steve Wrights LHPCA site a couple of days ago.

Apart from the bad spelling, at least he never mentioned Blackpool, what 'parity' does he want?

All his drivers to be trained and be made to pass the DSA test?

For all his drivers to do the Knowledge, be tested in one to one sessions and know London as well as we do?

For all his members to have full wheelchair accessable vehicles that cost £32K?

For all his members to have strictly controlled fares?

For his members to take blind people and their dogs without using Islam as an excuse?

I suspect not. :?

Take the beneficial things, forget about the others that would take commitment and time to complete.

I hope he allows some extra time before starting the meeting, some of his members will have to work out how to get there.

I might pop along for a bit inside information for the forum. :D

GBC, we have to take guide dogs by law, islam is not an excuse.
To be fair to my muslim drivers, not one has ever refused to take a guide dog.

I keep telling people, minicabs are not black cabs. We do not deserve to be treated the same as black cabs.

WE are trying to get better.

I assume equal bus lane access and equal signage.

Gmb branch is me T.P.Flanagan branch secretary GMB Proffesionall Drivers, quite simply now our vehicles and drivers are licensed by the PCO we are demanding parity with black cabs re bus lanes and red routes, why should our passengers who require DOOR TO DOOR services be discriminated against.Currently in London drivers dropping off on red routes and in bus lanes are receiving PCN s even if our passengers are blind or disabled, we will not tolerate this situation,my members and many proprieyors are demanding a day of action. If the authorities fail to listen I expect it to happen our membership and allies will not tolerate this irrational discrimination! UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL!!!!

I think the only thing stopping the LPH being treated as equals is the whingings of some elements of black cab trade.

Some would say they don't like it up em.

But from my experience the 'Walls of Jericho' strategy often wins. Keep banging on.

Well well well, its Mr Flanagan the former printer.

Tell us something 'brother' would you like to expand on your diatribe that was an excuse for an editorial in you favorite on-line newspaper a few weeks ago.

I'm particularly interested in the evidence you have collected with regards to renting badges and bills out, membership of the BNP, and Lodge membership details?

Cor! look Sussex, your hero's joined the forum.

Perhaps he can help you with Eastbourne's stubborn licensing department, and you'll get your plate!

Or perhaps the GMB's still stuck in the 1970's, its finances certainly are.

I hate to burst your bubble 'brother' but the days of union rule went with the print.

Perhaps you could hire the tardis, pop back in time and start again, you might get some success with keeping the mines and print open, unlike all the flannel and bullsheite we were served up by the shop stewards back then.

Arthur Skargill lives on.

Would you rather he didn't, and hide away like the buffoons from the T&G.

Or just sit in the ivory tower like the lads from the LTDA?
