The undeniable truth is that our taxi trade hiked the tariff at precisely the time we didn't need it. Passenger numbers falling, pressure from smoking bans, tourist numbers stripped back to the bare bones of stag and hen parties - not the quality spend of North American and European tourists - and we hike our tariffs?

These questions have all been addressed. Why don't you contact Mr G of fasties and ask him to regurgitate same. Come on Garry whats the differance between you selling your plates and anybody else selling theirs. Forget about the price, what made your decision to sell different.

Heard also from a friend of a friend that they also seem to ignore human rights when dealing with drivers. A complaint made against a driver by a customer. Secretary sends a letter to the taxi owner, tellng him that HIS driver must attend a hearing. No details of complaint. Driver not informed personally. Get real, guys this is 2006, not the dark ages; without drivers where would City Cabs be; They are human beings not some dirt to be trod on.

I am a bit puzzeled as to if there was no shortage of plates when you sold yours, why did they not get their plates for free from the council ?

I don't know why plate values are over the top, I don't know how they come to that figure.

I keep hearing about this bunch, but apparently they either don't have the courage of their convictions (pun intended) to post on here. Instead they keep quoting this forum elsewhere.
Having heard about "the dark side" I had a look earlier and I can see why it's so called. I don't think anyone with a modicum of common sense would want to join their ranks.
Skull doesn't make a lot of sense - he seems to be stuck in a groove about £50k plate values. Jasbar aka Taylor is still the hasbeen-wannabee that he always was.
This local Edinburgh forum isn't good enough for them obviously; they want to go national with their lies, deceit and self-importance!!

Well Gazza - good news, maybe all your prophecies are coming true, I heard tonight (in Canonmills to be exact), that someone had managed to get a plate and taxi (clapped out Metro allegedly) in the last couple of weeks for only £32K - seems like the plate values are falling, and your doom and gloom cr4p is having the effect you want

Well guy.s there is a plate just sold in west dunbartonshire area in scotland and it went for just £15000. I think there going down in value could be wrong though.

Its just TC talking sh** as usual but here's a tip bigyin if you are ever in Edinburgh steer clear of the Cannonmills garage they say suicide is more fun.
