A wee contradiction there Ross don't you think?

So tell us all Ross if a driver wants a plate what's a reasonable price and how does he go about getting one at that reasonable price?

Come on Ross surprise us all with your brownnosing wisdom.

BTW you still haven't explained how a public licence plate equates to £50,000?

How is it a contradiction ? You asked me a question on plate values on another post, and I answered it. Thats not complaining, thats answering your question.
To complain is to go on and on and on about it like you do

You tell me Garry having sold two yourself.
Come on Garry whats the differance between you selling your plates and anybody else selling theirs. Forget about the price, what made your decision to sell different.

As for the name calling, very childish, are you trying to impress jasbar ?

The undeniable truth is that our taxi trade hiked the tariff at precisely the time we didn't need it. Passenger numbers falling, pressure from smoking bans, tourist numbers stripped back to the bare bones of stag and hen parties - not the quality spend of North American and European tourists - and we hike our tariffs?

What a good piece of market forces that was.

I will not disagree with you there.

Dear oh dear Ross,

Has someone replaced your medication with a placebo?

Now, I feel silly. I though you were a rare commodity - a multi brain-celled cabbie.

Why don't you read my post again and see if you can better understand it.

Then come back to me with real questionbs and I'll see whether I have the time to answer.

(as an aside) Sorry Keith, can you hang on a wee minute till I deal with this. Shouldn't take long ...

As you can see Ross I've got something else on. Try again. It's not really that difficult. Just look at the words and concentrate.

Keep calm, and I'll speak to you in the morning.

These questions have all been addressed. Why don't you contact Mr G of fasties and ask him to regurgitate same. Of course, you'd have to strip out all the attacks on me which detracted from the argument. Then you'd have to strip all the invective I spewed out trying to defend myself from these inane attacks.

I never claimed there was any difference but just for the record.

When I sold there was no shortage of plates or available drives the Ph numbered less than 300 and everyone was making more money for fewer hours.

Now answer my questions Ross.

I am asking you to quantify £50,000 in real terms, what gives a plate its value?

Your words “I have gone on record as saying that plate values are over the top”

It's about time that the Committee at City Cabs was dragged into the 21st century? They surely ignore the wishes of their members at their peril. 20 signatures to get an EGM - go for it!!!
Heard also from a friend of a friend that they also seem to ignore human rights when dealing with drivers. A complaint made against a driver by a customer. Secretary sends a letter to the taxi owner, tellng him that HIS driver must attend a hearing. No details of complaint. Driver not informed personally. Get real, guys this is 2006, not the dark ages; without drivers where would City Cabs be; They are human beings not some dirt to be trod on.

Scottie

What a fraud, like Scottie gives a shi* about drivers Alan G has really pushed the boat out with this clown.

I bet auld Ross is down there licking his boots though.

What's wrong Ross do these questions not fit in with your servile way of thinking?

I don't know why plate values are over the top, I don't know how they come to that figure. The only time I think about plate values is when I read it on this forum, it doesn't control my every thought as it does yours.
In fact I don't really care, I have never owned a plate and have no plans to get one.
If someone is willing to pay £50,000 for a plate thats their choice reasonable or not.

I am a bit puzzeled as to if there was no shortage of plates when you sold yours, why did they not get their plates for free from the council ?

That was no shortage because drivers had an abundance of available shifts at a competitive rate, no hiked rental charges. Selling a plate could take weeks even if you advertised in the paper. In other words drivers were not being squeezed into buying through hiked rentals or a shortage in available drives.

There Ross I’ve answered your question and given you the answer to my questions all in one little paragraph.

Your last comment about sums up your whole world Ross, you don’t know what you are talking about nor what you are fighting against and neither do most of the servile idiots out there.

I keep hearing about this bunch, but apparently they either don't have the courage of their convictions (pun intended) to post on here. Instead they keep quoting this forum elsewhere.
Having heard about "the dark side" I had a look earlier and I can see why it's so called. I don't think anyone with a modicum of common sense would want to join their ranks.
Skull doesn't make a lot of sense - he seems to be stuck in a groove about £50k plate values. Jasbar aka Taylor is still the hasbeen-wannabee that he always was.
This local Edinburgh forum isn't good enough for them obviously; they want to go national with their lies, deceit and self-importance!!

Scottie

You’re too good for us Scottie Taylor and I are too scared to come back.

I think you will find the 50K plate values will cost you 50K. The rising plate value is a worrying trend for the council who are at this moment looking for an out, and you know what that means don’t you Scottie. There soon to be partners in crime the Tories and the Lib Dems are not at all happy with plate values going so high. BTW I got that right from the horse’s mouth.

Can’t argue with you there Scottie

Well Gazza - good news, maybe all your prophecies are coming true, I heard tonight (in Canonmills to be exact), that someone had managed to get a plate and taxi (clapped out Metro allegedly) in the last couple of weeks for only £32K - seems like the plate values are falling, and your doom and gloom cr4p is having the effect you want :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Is the tide turning :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Ah well how many jobs did you seek today then, in between sitting reading Fasties (who've let me join at last 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) ) and regurgitating it here (copyright/bandwidth theft discussion anyone :?: :?: :?: ) I wouldn't like to think you've been wasting my hard earned tax revenues fannying about on the net, and not getting a job.

Garry - you're the only one who's ever heard of this mythical 50 grand plate value, and you your marginalised wee pal jasbar has repeated it endlessly.

Who says all deals have to go through ITS :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: Once you take off their cut, and you get a fast cash sale (something to do with tax men, divorcing wives, and getting caught baw deep) 32grand can't be far off the mark. That 50 grand you keep quoting - you never got the figure from Forth St did you      Let's look at in who's interest it is to talk up plate values :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

Canonmills did fine as a talking shop for years for you - you were head blaw along there
