Hello Taxi drivers.

I'm not a taxi driver as you may have guessed.

I would just like to point out that cyclists can use most bus lanes too.
about 90% of taxi drivers that catch me up in a bus lane, drive about 6 inchers from my back wheel and try to bully be out of the way. Why?

We have a right to be their so please be patient the reasion we cycle down the middle of the bus lane is because there is (more times then not) not enough room for you to over take us safely. If we can let you pass safely we will.

Driving up to us fast then pulling out and passing us with a 1 inch gap at the last second is very dangrous, so please don't do that.

I understand you have a living to make but so do we and we also want to live. When pulling left to pick up a fair please signal as soon as you can don't leave it till the last second or not bother to signal at all.

Before you all have a go at me and say that I don't stopp at red lights I stop at every red light. More taxis and cars go through red lights then bikes do anyway.

My bike is fully road legal. feel free to drive dangerousley behind a person on a bike that breaks the rules but not the ones that dont

Welcome to TDO Mr bike man.

From my experience for every cab driver that gives you grief, there are a dozen or more cyclists that are colour blind when it comes to traffic lights.

The cycling light jumpers upset me  , the cyclists at night without road legal lighting upset me  , but the cyclists who really p!55 me off are the ones who feel free to cycle up the cyclist only lane in a one way street - the WRONG way against the traffic and seem upset when you blow the horn at them (and more often than not, have no lighting at all)

The Highway Code is the law and applies to all road users - if only the law abiding cyclists started outweighing those who ignore the highway code then everyone would be treated with the respect they deserve. 8) 8) 8)

I dislike cyclists that ignore the rules just as much as you do. I don't even class them as cyclist’s they are just people on bikes. I've once almost got hit from behind as I slowed at an amber light and the taxi behind me speed up to try and jump the light. he had loads of room to stop. Stand at any Junction in London for 1 hour and count how many bikes jump the red and how many cars do. I was cycling down the buss lane Uxbridge road Ealing, loads of slow moving traffic on my right I see a Taxi in my mirror (Yes I have a side mirror) So I pull right, into the slow moving traffic so the taxi can pass me, Because believe it or not we don't want you behind me just as much as you don’t. I did not have to move out the way I did it because I have respect for other road users. So what does the taxi driver do? Floors it past me no tanks no toot of the horn or wave or hazard light flash. I thought why bother? If there is a taxi behind me in a bus lane waiting nicely I'll move out the way. The taxi drivers that drive aggressively behind me 6 inches away can wait, I'll just slow down.
Its not too bad in Ealing but Central London  its like you are all trying to kill us. Marylebone road is by far the worst.

If taxi Drivers and cyclists sheared the same pub once in a while I’m sure we’ll have a lot more respect for each other.

While I’m moaning I wont even start on bus drivers there are failed wannabe taxi drivers with 25tones of metal and a V12 6.LTR engine behind it all.

Oh yeah and carbodies is the worst sounding engine ever how on earth do you sit behind that all day?

Welcome cyclingbloke, alas you will find no sympathy here for your plight.
Going through red lights, wrong way up one way streets, cycling on pavement, no lights at night, no insurance= 99% of cyclists.
Be honest with youself, I am stating the truth.

Hello cyclingbloke

I to am not only a taxi driver but also a cyclist, I understand what you say,Iam also a motor biker, I find the problems are not the taxi drivers but the general public, who have this me me attitude

I often go out on the push bike for a bit off exercise but the standards of driving by most are very poor, I have got to the stage of going on the pavement, and thats out i the sticks

you will find most taxi divers and Private hire drivers know the score, they are fully alert to all conditions regarding all on the road, providing you have lights etc etc [I only work nights] the drivers will see you and take it in that you are there.
regards

It always amuses me that every cyclist that ventures onto these forums has never riden through a red ATS, sailed through a Ped X, or flown along the pavement.

Well cyclingbloke

I am one cab driver who is always VERY careful around cyclists.

11 June 2004 my mum aged 69 was on day 4 of a bike ride around the entire coast of England and Wales rasing money for childline when she was hit by a car and killed.

I'll never stop loving her!
