i agree with what you say but this is dundee who gives a sxxt ? next council meeting thurs 7th the operators who forgot to renew their plates are appearing, all have had their plates removed pending the may 29th deadline, the rules are any new applicants must put on wheelchair cabs .one op with an e7 made it to the last meeting and had a brand new lisence granted, without the option of putting on a doblo which his previous lisence granted him, most of the ops appearing have doblos a couple have saloons, i wonder what their licenses will allow

In the past they've usually been re-granted I think? It's really just an excuse to make councillors look as if they're acting tough, when in reality it's all just huffing and puffing.

I'm surprised that it's some of the wheelchair cabs that are up though, since in the past I always thought it was the hired plates and absentee operators who were that busy with their real job that they forget to renew their license.

But at least we should have a new bunch of councillors come next summer, what with all the dead wood jumping ship before PR claims them.

But the £20,000 golden goodbye wouldn't have anything to do with it, would it? #-o

Hey, our friends south of the border, did you realise that the next Scottish council elections will be held under the proportional representation system, so many of the current lot will probably lose their seats.

So if they stand down beforehand they're being handed £20k of taxpayers' money as a kind of 'golden goodbye', just to soften the blow.

Good that, don't you agree? ](*,)

I think if it needed £20,000 to get rid of some of our councillors it would be money well spent.
