He took it because he'd found out I'd approached other taxi companies.

But you hadn't left then is the point being made, so a case could/should be made that he broke the contract. Cos you can't work for him without a car and radio.

So I would say to the judge you had to go elsewhere to be able to eat.

No, I didn't owe any money, our week went Monday to Sunday. On the Monday I'd paid my weeks rent that was take me to the following Sunday, I'd arranged to give him the car back on that following Sunday, he took the car on the night of the Tuesday so in fact owes me part of a weeks rent. My son went to see him, got £75 back. Ex boss in fact said he'd take the rest 'out of the cost of the knowledge school' - he hasn't, I've written that in my defence too

Yes, sussex what you're saying is basically what I've written down so at least I can believe in myself that i'm writing things down along the right lines.

Approaching another company is not breaking your contract, taking the car away from you and leaving you with no means of earning a living was jumping gun on his side, he broke your contract, did your contract say that you had to solely work for him.

Yes it did say we weren't to drive for any other company for 18 months. But now i'm thinking you are right, I hadn't in fact left when he took the car, i'd given him a weeks notice (verbally, nothing in writing) so maybe then I didn't leave, he made me leave? Getting these opinions is putting things into perspective a bit more

maybe you were not intending to leave, maybe you were simply looking for a operator's job in another firm to supplement your wages while you continue to work out your contract, maybe you should counter-sued him, maybe you should have a word with a friendly reporter explaining how a single mother is being victimised by?????

I signed a contract that said the cost of learning the knowledge would be just under £1000 but this is waived when signing contract that says we won't drive for another cab firm within 18 months.

So in effect you broke the contract.

I dont really want to pass too much comment, but similar contracts are in place in the bus and rail industries where it costs many thousands of pounds to train staff.

I wonder if those nice East Europeans would dare break their contracts?

If the contract says that she would drive for him for 18 months and no one else, then by taking away her car. then he is at fault... it all depends on the wording eusasmiles.zip
