Well I suppose so, but if they can't get into a taxi then the driver is not being discriminatory.

Same with a mush that 25 stone in a wheel-chair, if you can't push him up into the cab, then that's not being discriminatory.

The council can't, and I would tell the council to go and f*** themselves.

So, Sussex, is your "cab" "wheelchair accesible?"

I suspect I take more wheel-chair customers in my 'cab', in a week, than you do in a year.

And you clearly show them the respect you think they deserve, including 25 stone mushes.

You have grounds to refuse if, 1 the electric wheelchair is of a size and Design, which makes it too big to fit into your vehicle, or if the combined weight of passenger and wheelchair in your judgment are too heavy for you to load by yourself, it would be unreasonable for you to place your passenger and yourself at risk ,

Charley, I assume you are the Chairman of the Bolton Hackney carriage association but are you affiliated to any other organisation?

I thought so too but I seem to recollect there was a disagreement not so long ago with another Bolton Drivers association on representation and recognition at council trade meetings? If my memory serves me well there was an issue about member numbers, each side suggesting the other had very few members? I also seem to recall that where the Bolton TOA had for several years been the sole council representative, it was displaced by this new outfit?

Two years ago I phoned Bolton licensing and asked them why they allowed Private hire companies in Bolton who had no involvement with hackney carriages to advertise their business as "Taxis"? I was told they would look into it but I wonder if anything ever came of my intervention and why the Bolton Taxi trade according to the LO had previously done nothing about it?

Regards

JD

I think the times have changed JD, although in the past the HC's tended to devote their energy against each other as opposed to the real issues.

Although as previously stated, things seem to be changing.
