Taxi Driver Online

I know this has probably been answered before but ............... I get as I drive a TX2 I get lots of calls for ladies with prams and kids / babies in prams mainly asleep etc. I have no way of securing either the pram nor the child within the vehicle and think I've just answered my own question - but where do I stand legally with regards to this??????????

Also given the new seat belt laws as the cab has a built in child booster seat can I enforce use of it? And if I don't am I at risk of a ticket?

Because you have a petition the responsibility for children is down to your passenger

Re the booster seat, i think that if one is available then it must be used. But if you dont have one in the vehicle thats ok.

I drive a vito and find that you can use the seatbelts for the rear facing seats to secure the pushchair but usually the parent(s) would rather hold on to the pram or pushchair themselves

seatbelts are laso great for securing shopping trolleys !!

Can someone tell me what a petition has to do with this????????????

Maybe he meant partition.

Anyway, my take on the law is that "occasional" juorneys ie; taxi journeys are exempt from the booster seat rule.

Regards the pram I would also say that is the parents responsiblity to ensure the thing is positioned safely with the brake applied.

If booster seats are AVAILABLE in Taxi's, then they MUST be used.
If you dont have one then it's still legal to carry children.

I have started to use the wheelchair harness to secure prams now; and advise parents to take the child out of the pram.

I've never tried to secure a shopping trolleys yet the mind boggles
