The smell lingers for starter, and most owners can't control them so they end up jumping all over the place, and the dog hairs can be hoovered up in five minutes, but do I want to stop working, find a hoover, and do it before I take another job, no thanks. [-X

Does this old division still lay between us.

I maybe from the sticks but to me as long as the driver has a binafide badge and a licence issued by a local authority and drives a tested and plated vehicle, a taxi driver is a taxi driver.

The difference is between a Hackney Driver and a PHV driver.

Mini cabs & their drivers [edited by admin] up visions of seedy back street outfits with dodgy vehicles touting for customers who charge what they want depending on race, sex, desperation for a lift and state of health of their punters. It's the east europeans we need to be looking out for these days where drivers run from cummunity shops blatently advertising prices to airports ect

For those London Green badge drivers please note that majority of PHV drivers spend a lot of money to stay on the road and have as much pride in their vehicles as a hackney driver. How does a Hackney driver expect to get respect if they can't respect proper PHV driver.
At the end of the day it is the punter that has the choice who to use and its no different to somebody prefering Tesco's over Sainsbury's to shop at.

And YES the driver in the above mention case was rightly fined reguardless of race creed & colour. If he was that tired he shouldn't of been driving when he has other peoples lives at stake and should of had an exemption certificate on medical grounds for not taking a guide dog.

I know punters who come to the cab can't control their dogs, for that reason I don't take em, a guide dog is different he/she has been trained to high standards, they wont mess about or even move

given the choice of dog or person to carry in a taxi I would choose dog, I have a dog, a Labrador, he travels with me sometimes when not working, he sits quitely on the seat gazing out taking in the fresh air from the window, when we stop I get out, he moves over to the drivers seat and sits there guarding the vehicle

I talk to my dog he don't answer me but I know what he says, dogs hairs, well work nights, got leather seats, stuff it, kebabs smell worse, oh and I put leather treatment on the leather seats, don't polish it off, let the punters do that with there best gear

The best loyal friend on earth, better than the tossers you carry

Well done, your spelling is showing signs of improvement.

Hows your protest coming along Terrence, any chance of having it this side of 2012?

You could'nt organise the proverbial drink up could you Terry? :D

Thanks for being the oppositions leader. \:D/

Not in London my friend, and we've got legislation to cover the differences as well.
Think of one as a life long career, and the other as a job people do in between jobs, hence they retain drivers like an incontinent person retains fluids.

I agree, wholeheartedly.

Perhaps if their self appointed fool of a union rep concentrated more on that, rather than bigoted remarks on a computer forum, they might shed that image?

As you said, your from outside London, and I beg to differ with the above.

I don't need respect from the London Minicab trade, if they could obey the laws of the land they might earn some themselves?

But will his Minicab firm sack him? I think we all know the answer to that one. [-(

Not this time.

Stow on the Wold, located in the Cotwolds, I've a small castle there, nice people, top wine, nice weather, beautiful views, and not a GMB rep in site.
