Your an example of why my signature at the bottom of each of my posts states that people hide from the truth.

I asked for no time to respond to your opinion ................ I wonder why you need time to respond to mine.

Militant Socialists .................. I bet you've got the beret and everything.

They'll be organising marches and banners and everything next.

GA promised you a reply,why not yesterday,KNACKERD,
OK you appear through an association to have achieved a result on issue, good i hope you win many more!
Your experience with the Labour party and the T&G disgracefull, was probably a result of the parties lurch to the right. You say its old Labour in Gateshead i dont know, take your word for it,
Was sold out myself by a [edited by admin] Lady of the Night called Brenda Dean, aided and abbetted bypinnochio IE Neil Kinnock. Many unions NUJ,T&G,EETPU,went through my picket lines.
The miners were betrayed byKinnock again and the scabs in the Notts UDM and T&G scabs driving through.
The only reason i mention this is to illustrate i to have sufferd, please lets not try to debate the industrial history of the last 30yrs.
what is important is the situation within our industries today, long hours
poor pay, dangerous conditions ambigous legislation, gross exploitation appallingly divided workers,we suggest that vigorous organisation, against the appalling legislation strangling our industries is essential. For any to suggest that that is a non political action flies in the face of reality.Legislation regulation is created by politicians,to influence that process you must ifluence them,we would prefer to control them, thereby obtaining for EVERYONE within the industries fairness and justice.Quite obviously this process must be organised, and why re-invent the wheel the organ is already there, the union.Within the GMB we have an open mind on many issues, for as i have already pointed in the artivle an open invitation from the GMB this branch was created for london. It was only due to repeated requests from drivers outside of London that we extended our remit.I know that many assts work under terrible limitations we believe we can help its their decision.
As to the fringe benefits well they work, you think you can beat them, carefull analysis might or might not confirm your contention.
very many members owe their continued ability to work at their chosen profession,to the GMB legal support.I read assertions that no win no fee lawyers would be as effective, sadly not true our lawyers have sued some of these companies due to their scurrilious practices, and been succesfull in obtaining financial compensation for them. The GMB is supporting legaslation to bring these shamefull companies into line. The current situation is shameful.
GA i hope that episcle explains our views,as always as applies to every contributor feel free to phone me i will return your call thereby saving you any cost.07958275339

I understand the ethic of a trades union and have at no time expressed an opinion that the GMB are not working to the benefit of their members.

We have made great strides, using a much different approach, in making Gateshead a better place to be a taxi driver. This work is very much ongoing and is clearly focussed on delivering the best possible service.

The first thing I would say is that fundementaly I don't think there is to much differance in what the national bodies are trying to achieve, yet we seem to spend more time arguing that one method is better than another. The fact is that if there was a more open approach to consultation within the trade THE TRADE WOULD BENEFIT THE MOST.

We seem to be getting involved in an argument between one group and another and which is best placed to offer representation ............... is it not clear that such arguments distract from the issues which concern potential members, and is therefore offputting to those potential members of either organisation.

Surely there is a more beneficial future for the trade if the national bodies work together, there is no way the general trade will unite. opinions vary very dramatically, HOWEVER it is not inconcievable to me that the large National groups can unite behind common goals and communicate ideas and strategies.

Maybe I'm missing some fundemental point which would not allow this, but I for one cannot understand why its not possible.

Finally I think that respect should be shown to anyone willing to stand up, not only for their rights, but for the rights of others around them. I don't intend to be critical personally but I believe that your stance against many of the members of this forum is not befitting of a man of your standing, surely you are able to use your knowledge of this trade to raise points and conduct debates in a more suitable manner.

B. Lucky

GA I think the point is the current situation is intollerable,of course you are right some orgs diametrically opposed no hope of mutual co-operation.However the recent lobbying by us all on S75 was encouraging.
The GMB Nationally offer many facilities to the industry, many are taking that offer in the way it was made.
As to my personal methods of dealing with insults directed at me personally,i make no appology as i often have said i have a degree in abuse if necessary.just my style im afraid! Eventually it leads to the type of debate we are now taking part in,provocation is a great tool. Now you join, im in Ncstle tomorrow if you fancy some tonsil acid.
ORGANISE EDUCATE AGITATE!
