I use a isisu I think that's how its spelt, and have had no problems with it in 15 year's a built in speaker on the front, it will even slip into a spare radio slot in the dash, or where as some cars have the tape or CD holder just by taking them out.
Tait and max on are crap radios so if you can change it
You can get an isisu for about £180

thats what im trying to suss out, i know everyone says max and tait a ballarks!!! but why is a gm350 or isisu better surely it has to do with the power. i think my radio only pumps out at 4w where as a gm350 is upto 25w... now reading back on some of the posts someone mentioned that depending on the cars battery etc most cars pump at 10w... how would i make sure my car throws out the full 25w i need?

Radios I know about but cars no what do you drive???
I would go to the nearest 2 way radio fitter and get him to check out the aerial first then the mike and then the frqc and all the wiring, if every thing else works on your cab it must be one of the above, I am 100% sure its one of the above and not the battery

I am trying to recall what the DTI inspector said to me and I think it was cab radios only work at about 10 watts I may be wrong but don't get caught pushing 50 watts or they will take the radio strait off you

It is extremely easy, if you are pushing 50 watts you could be interfering with another company in another area or the emergency services and that's illegal so as soon as they get a complaint they will find you like an Exocet missile

is there a fine involved or they just take the radio? they seem to be going for £25 just keep buyin them if they just take it. £25 is f-all for a seriously powerful rad! (would only need to use it on the weekends)

The fine can be up to £5,000 they could even take the car as well.
Please just try what I have said and the problem will be sorted, you say you had the aerial fitted well it wont cost anything to get it re checked
I'm off to bed now, go tomorrow and get it looked at and then let me know
tomorrow

hi guys just wondering...

1) this is one of the best radios to get through to your base on i hear is this correct?

2) if buying one on ebay for eg. and they give me the serial how do i check what freq it takes ie i need vhf

3) looking around for this radio i notice a lot of places state
"Programmable Power 5-25 W, set per channel from 2 programmable levels"
how would i bump the power up to the max to get bext push-through to the base?

thank you

this is a question i get asked all the time by the local PH and hacks.

unless your radio - aerial is really that bad, if you`re sitting outside the office and you`re being overtalked by a car 8 miles away, i`d not be looking at equipment but the possibility that someone is feeding cars or just ignoring you.

i had a car in which the driver complained he could never be heard when calling for jobs, only when one certain operator was on. following numerous vehicle revisits i spoke to the boss, who changed the shift of said operator...

wierdly the car never had a problem after that!!!

HTH.

ps runnig a radio at anything above the license limit will get not only the user(you) in the pooh, but also could cause the firm to loose their license!

OFCOM set, power levels for a good reason and most cars running 10 watts should be able to push into a base at a reasonable signal strength with no issues.
