But the point is that whether or not he got to keep his driving license and/or taxi licenses, you don't seem to doubt that he was guilty of the conduct in question, thus he was fair game for adverse comment?

From what I know this guy has had a relatively trouble free record, within 12 months of his old man being taken ill and then dying he accumulates 11 points. I dont really doubt the connection whilst others would.

Well I've no reason to doubt this, but surely the salient point is his driving, not mitigating factors?

I mean if someone was caught drunk driving, would this be excusable because he's just suffered some personal tragedy?

I don't think anyone is doubting that there may be mitigating factors, but the point is that the public interest is generally put before personal tragedy in situations like this?

Seems fair to me.
What if he had been convicted of a sex offence?, would the LA be right in letting him work.
I'm not saying the LA get it right all the time, but someone with that many points in such a short time should be more careful, I think the LA got it right.
