All-female 'taxi' service fights for survival
An all-female "taxi" service is fighting for survival due to proposed changes in the law. Pink Ladies is a members-only club with female drivers and passengers who use top-up cards rather than cash to pay for their trips in an effort to provide women with a secure form of transport. Started last year in Warrington and operating in a number of towns, the service is under threat from proposed changes to a section of the Local Government Act under which the company operates. Pink Ladies' founders are now working with politicians to find a solution to the problem over licensing.

They certainly won't find a solution in the 1976 act. But then again they don't know the extent of the law in respect of Taxis and private hire vehicles so it's understandable that they will try every avenue, or should that be cul-de-sac?

It doesn't matter one iota what politicians come up with because the law is now set in stone and it is the judiciary who are now the guardians of section 75. Unless of course the Government bring in new legislation to accommodate the activities of the likes of Pink Ladies.

Regards

JD

No longer is it proposed, the Queen has had her way. :D

You don't need a politician to sort your problems, you just need a license, be it taxi or PH.

Around 250,000 folks in the country have worked that one out, so why can't the pinkies? :?

It really is common sense to the rest of us. This is an absolute farce.

For a company that supposedly set out to improve services provided and promote safer travel, this is nothing but a joke.

Didn't they say they wanted to stop women using unlicensed taxis?

It's FACT. They do take cash for jobs, so the top up scheme which they promote is a LIE.
And i can prove it because we pick up an elderly lady who uses them now and again and ALWAYS pays in cash, and so do many others. As ive said on TDO before, one of their drivers asked me to change a tenner because she'd ran out of pound coins!
I did give her change, only to take a pic with my mobile of her taking the money and giving change.
If pink ladies would like to dispute this then contact me through TDO! bet they wont
