The airport want to issue 200 permits. earning the airport, 480,000 pounds . Seems like a lot of permits for a little airport.

Where did you get this info from, Street? And is is accurate? The reason I ask is because the press release states 6.85 per cab per day. which at 200 cabs works out at 1370 pounds per year?

JD
I got those figures off the local radio, if the spokes man was official or unofficial, I do not recall. But that figure of 200 permits is absolutely ridiculous . A little airport like Liverpool. I think like the fee it self, it will be subject to negotiation.

How much support do you think the regular Airport drivers will get from those that don't work it? Has it ever occured to anyone that many drivers might welcome the imposition of permits just to keep others out and the added factor that these permits may in time command a scarcity value, providing they are allowed to be transfered?

Regards

JD

I have been told that the meeting will be on Thursday between members representing Liverpool council and the people from the airport, I am also led to believe that there will only be one Liverpool trade representative present, in a spectator type of role,

I am also led to believe, that the drivers only new about the proposed fees on the Friday and were told that they would be implemented on the Monday,

..
Peel holdings have got loads, of new flights coming into Liverpool. The trouble is to attract the low cost airlines, there making very little money. A bit like you renting out your cabs for next to nothing. The only easy way, for the airport to make money, is to shaft the taxi trade. So as the principle of permits, is accepted then that 7 pounds will become 10 pounds then 20 pounds. Quite what, there negotiating about. I don’t know . Just say fick off . Tommy dont just sit there , this is your chance to make a name for your self.

Maybe so, but the permit goes with the cab, unlike the situation in York with Railway permits to gain more revenue by the permit selling agents

Cab is sold on with permit, new owner is then asked to coff up new permit fee for full year even if there is only a month/3 month or 6 month to go

Plates for sale are now advertised for sale "with Stn permit" or, plate wanted, must have station permit

but it gets worst, know of one driver even tho he drives on a cab with permit, is not allowed to ply the railway Stn rank, reason, they don't like him, can't come in, the Stn Taxis Cooommmittteeee say so

As usual you know more than me. It is rumoured that the airport don’t like the Liverpool taxi trade. They regard them as scruffy offs. They may well have a point. Some firm airportcarz ,who ever they are, they are, supposed to be the dog’s watsits . Wear suites ties, smile. More in keeping with the snotty image, the airport want to promote . Plus their loaded . Might well end up there in a big way. I have to stress its only a rumour. What have you heard? :?: :?:

The meeting took place today, and from what I was told, the people from the airport need to go away, rethink what the word negotiation means, and then come back and speak to the lads at the airport,

John Lennon airport day of action . On the 15 Dec there will be a day of action, at Liverpool airport, as expected negotiations, between the Peel holdings and the Liverpool taxi trade , collapsed after the first meeting. This is in my view is what Peel holdings wanted . According to Peel holdings. There is an unnamed private hire company, ready willing and able to start work on the 1. 1 07. So perhaps, Any one out there fancies a day out , at the airport on the 15 Dec .See you there Captain.

The 15th is a long way off, plus this afternoon Liverpool council asked the manager of the airport to attend a meeting,????
Liverpool's Taxi Fleet is 100 per cent wheelchair accessible. yet there are only 20 wheelchair accessible vehicles in the whole of the private hire fleet, I would not be surprised if the disabled lobby in Liverpool started to voice their concerns, also today over the local radio stations people were being warmed to get to the airport early on the Friday, The warning came from the cab trade and will continue......

Because of events that have happened recently regarding unlicensed vehicles on contract work, Liverpool licensing will be making sure that every vehicle is Licence correctly....

I am sure your right a compromise must be found, at all costs .Can you imagine the nightmare scenario of the 70 cabs, who work the airport. Now being locked out. That will probably be 70 more cabs in the city centre. Not only that, the first contact with the taxi trade for visitors, will be with a, private hire driver. He will of course rubbish the black cabs, as being expensive and crap, so that return trip to the airport from the city centre hotel etc, will most likely be, with his private hire company. I would love to know who this private hire company is :?: :?: :?: :?: , that is if it really does exist. Peel holdings are best mates with Liverpool city council, they have joint projects together, the liner terminal for one.So Liverpool council may well be reluctant ,to get to involve. The disabled lobby may well be the only card that the Liverpool hackney trade has. regards streetcars.

Can you imagine a PHV actually getting out of the airport.

Any things possible, a bullet proof vest would be a good idea though . Can you put a private hire plate on a tank ?
