I think your a little wide of the mark there Terry, Kermit stated he used to operate limousines during a time when they were clearly able to operate in the PH loophole.

You have no reason to suspect he was not operating legitimately (unless of course you know something we dont?)

Terry dare I say it but it could be argued that minicabs have been exploiting loopholes for years....the very fact London was 20 odd years behind the provinces in taking on PH.....the fact it issued temporary permits....

If we had decent legislators loopholes wouldnt exist because legislation would be thought through properly.

But, we should perhaps be thankful the rules have changed.

But the reality of the situation was and is you need to have people properly regulated when they are dealing with the public.

Ken says that? now here's me thinking he was a socialist

At who's door do you lay the blame for not licensing London Mini Cabs? For the last 40 years?

GMB, if your head wasn't so far up your ARSE and you weren't such an illiterate [edited by admin] then you would of read in my posts that this doesn't bother me as I HAVE BEEN LEGAL AND LICENCED from the word go.
Now unless you want to accuse me of doing other wrongs without knowing the facts then i suggest you Foxtrot Oscar before i sue your ARSE, and yes i would take on the so called mighty GMB union too. Your most recent posts clearly show you for the [edited by admin] you truly are, and lest we forget you started this.

If you care to look at www.talkinglimos.co.uk and refer to Miter Limos Plymouth you will also see my badge number, I have also had the pleasure of being stopped by VOSA tonight too as they are having a purge on Limos at the moment which i totally support AS IM LEGAL, and guess what after the initial checks i was allowed on my way, IF I WAS ILLEGAL i would not of been allowed to go on my way.

Off the top of my head I don't know when the first minicab operation was set up? I have probably researched it somewhere down the line, however there were minicabs running around the rest of the country 40 years ago so I have no doubt that London was included. Perhaps you didn't get into minicabs 40 years ago? I bet Trevor did. lol

I was meaning a question somewhere along the lines of why wasnt the 76 act extended to London, and your quite right, I was only 7 years old (so please dont lay the responsibility on me  )

I think Trevor could advise you more towards how the 1847 act was brought in :D

Dont talk tosh Sussex, it barely compares and as you well know those that are using the 7 day contract are operating legally, all be it using a loophole, however most of these people have tried to licence and have been hit by a wall. Alas this is changing rapidly thankfully. This is why i ask that you give these people a bit more consideration. I personally was licenced from the start so aint bothered but i know many a good op that just could not due to councils unwillingness and you know what a pain they can be surely!!!!!

I get approached quite often from people wanting to enter the hire and reward business.

I always advise them to approach their LA an put it to them, to tell the LA exactly what they propose and ask if they think it needs licensing.

I also advise if they have any questions they should surf the web and check out this site  and ask questions here.
