Hi All

I would like to know if your LA uses Door Stickers or Roof Signs for Private Hire vehicles and which you prefer?

We have a few grievances with the council regarding door stickers, the majority of drivers prefer Roof signs for various reasons.

One of the main issues we have is the use of bus lanes for Private Hire vehicles. The council believe that the public cant identify a Private Hire vehicle from an ordinary vehicle eventhough they have recently introduced door stickers, we also have a taxi plate on the rear.

To counter the problem we've asked the council to give us roof signs like the ones Private Hire use in Luton but then they say that you will only cause more confusion and look like hackneys (but the hackneys can only be a Euro Cab or a London style black cab, only in black).

your thoughts please.

Roof signs and front door license stickers down here and rear plate, also allowed office name/number on rear doors.

I hate the roof signs because personally I feel it is now easier to spot a PH from a distance than a HAC. (yes people do flag PH because they can't differentiate between "taxis")

I can spot a Hack or Ph vehicle in our area in the dead of night on some unlit road via the headlights on the registration number plate, and I think yes that belongs or drives for so and so firm

All bus lanes have sign's be it on the road (bus's cycle's Taxi and licenced PH only) or no entry sign's.
If joe pubic (not a spelling mistake) ignore's it then how come they manage to negotiate roundabouts etc.
It's basic road awareness, taught when your learning to drive!
They ignored our bus lane's and used them for short cut's BEFORE Taxi and PH we're allowed to use them! Start issuing tickets, that'll stop them!

Our Minicab's have 'baby on board' stickers, and despite the propaganda pedalled by some, thats the way Ken wants them to stay.

brighton ph look more like taxis than brighton taxis.
roof lights.
front side door stickers.
rear side door stickers.
small plates in the front window.
big one in the back.

and ph have full access to all the bus lanes.
