No doubt many of you out there on the night shift who tune into talksport radio will have heard that Mike Dicken [grumpy old man fame] has passed away due to a road accident near his home in Cornwall

what are we going to do on friday and saturday nights, I will miss him

Jame Whale is ok but sometimes he gets to much for me, would prefer sometimes that "Ash" his production engineer to take the program over

I called into Mike Dickin on a couple of occasions when he was with LBC.

I wholeheartedly agreed with 99% of what he stood for and said.

A tragic event so close to Christmas.

James Whale is having a tribute night for him tonight from 10.

Mike Dicken actually said what many of us think.

He'll be sadly missed.

regards

i always listened, and he said what the comon man thought.
it was sad when he went to mornings 10am
didnt he used to say when said how are you.
he used to say my health isn't in question. he also disliked the word basically and i can understand why.

Peter Beardsley must have really pi$$ed him off then.

I will miss hearing the grumpy old man on a weekend.

The only real time I listened to Talk Radio, as it was then, was when Ceazar the Geezer was on.

Strange bugger he was. :-$

It's going to be hard for his family - and may he rest in peace  Not from the area but have tuned in when jobs have taken me that way and always left the area smiling - may he rest in peace knowing the love that he had.

You need to have a word with yourself GMB.

The one thing I liked about Dicken, he gave you the opportunity to put it up, or shut up.

It's easy being a key-board hard-man, just look at fasties? That's not to say you are a one but respect Dicken for having the nuts to put it up in the first place.

As you probably know Jim and I did a 3 hour stint on Edinburgh's Talk radio station. The idiots that came on trying to attack us only went to give us greater support and only because none of them could argue their case - numpties the lot of them.

BTW the fasties crew were nowhere to be seen. Tells a story don't you think?

Opinions are like ar**holes, everyone has got one but backing them up is a different matter.

terry in the early eighties as you will be aware it was the hardest ever for school leavers to get a job, not just a trade but any job.
your favourite woman maggie saw to that....

so many school leavers were forced with a choice the dole or armed srervices.

most with pride and self respect didnt to want to go on the dole took and option 2.

as you say we dont want people milking the system and these lads and lasses weren't gonna do that, so joined up to her majesty's service and swore an oath to protect people like you. who could have freedom of speech etc

the reason i joined up is for a different reason, lets just say it was recommended to my parents that i did so...!!

so most people wouldnt be happy or appreciate what you have to say about the armed services. most families will at some point of lost a member in one campaign or another. so i suggest you stop slagging of the armed services or the mob as you describe it as the mod mob is bigger than your motley crew....!!

and dont start about how one of your close family members was gassed in the war... many people were related to the such likes.

its no excuse terry now leave it out...!!
