GBC, terry is accussing you of being "biassed" I wonder if he meant to say bi-assed? Do you have one more than is required by nature? or is the accusation of biass alluding to perverted deviant sexual practises? I think you have the right to an explaination from terrence forthwith. Followed by a grovelling apology from the lickspittle.

So if I post a quote from a man who you acknowledge was at the meeting and is a licensed Minicab driver, its a dirty trick?

To borrow your favorite word Terry, EH? WTF? :?

The 'full' transcript of his post does'nt really contain much else. The above has'nt been altered, edited for clarity and brevity, but not altered.

I could have done with a bi-ass about this time last year when I had a stomach bug. The main one was nearly worn out. :D

Here you are Terrence, the full post, you'll note it still does'nt alter the above.

On Tuesday, 21 November I visited Conway Hall, where Door-2-Door Justice Campaign organised a public awareness rally. For those who just landed in London this campaign has its goal to bring PH industry of London out from its Cinderella status and into the mainstream of public transport.

You might have thought that we are in the mainstream now, being licensed and everything…
Well, not really.

People who initiated, devised and implemented The 1998 Act had very little interest in the well-being of the PH industry and its workers in London. They had very little interest in the safety of the public, in which name they claimed to have legislated. Most of all they were interested in our money. They have not failed in that. Over 55 million collected from you and me since the beginning of the implementation. Money, which is our profit. Money which you all know how hard is to make.

In return companies, drivers and cars got stickers that allowed them to come back to what they were already doing before – making a little living.

Where I came from they call it a racket. Here they call it democracy. I’d risk saying: racket is better. At least you get protection for your money.

With patience running low the organisers wisely designed the meeting as one way talking rally to avoid unnecessary flash of emotions. That might as well since the public speakers had a few questions to answer.

Ed Thompson was shaking a little leaflet that is being allegedly distributed at railway stations propagating a safe use of licensed mini-cabs.
The “heavy-weight” from Mayor’s office was happy to be alive.
The bleating from a couple MPs was just that – bleating.
Paul Kenny is a good salesman, but I would rather see a man of his statue doing some essential road works on London routes if he REALLY wants to help drivers.
Last but not least, highly respectable Steve Wright had to be dragged to the meeting and would not turn up for the fear of being lynched as a self-proclaimed architect of the Licensing until his personal safety was guaranteed by the organisers.

I take my hat for David Beck. The man who runs a cab office in Brixton is by no means a faint hearted. The fact that he has got lean wolves of PH business like Ian Ferguson and John Griffin behind him shows that tensions are running high. When South London and East End gets together Westminster will have to listen. Hopefully.

From my side I pledge 50 pounds to the campaign. I’d rather give my money to them than to Ken and his greedy mob. At least them people give us an opportunity to earn.

All I wish that there were more people like me in that hall on Tuesday and in the workforce in general.
Licensing gave us one positive thing – a profession. With it comes pride. With it comes self-consciousness.

Daniel Olev (Licence No ****)

I see, so the following statement is correct?

had very little interest in the safety of the public,

I mean, I thought PH were licensed basically because by 1998 someone actually thought the public of London wanted reassured that the drivers carrying them were checked and vetted?

regards

"JIMBO your mad"

Is that " Your Mad" in the possessive? If so, what would you have me do with this "mad?" or is it meant to be an abbreviation of "You are" which would be, in English, "You're" Are you from this point implying I am angry, or incensed, type mad? Or are you trying to suggest that I am insane?

Which is rich coming from a man who is convinced that Diana, Princess of Wales was murdered. Is Harrod's your (possessive, note) corner shop?

As for the seat belt bit, why did it cost £500 for a barrister to read an act?

And apart from the stupid copper, and his boss that allowed the prosecution to go ahead, is their anyone in the country that doesn't understand that PH don't need to put on a seat-belt whilst engaged? :?
