How many of you since April 2006? Have seen a drop in your senior citizen's trade because of the free bus pass.
Well I have noticed it has had a dramatic effect on the taxi and private hire trade in my area. Where we have a high population of senior citizens.
I see the free bus pass as unfair competition and the Goverment did not think of this effect on the taxi and private hire trade. Is there a possibility that we could sue the Goverment for unfair trading practise's and claim for loss of earnings?

In short our PTE has, for as long as I can remember, given all pensioners free bus passes.

They used to offer "care cab" vouchers where they could buy a voucher worth £1 in the taxi for 65p then the driver would reclaim the voucher from the PTE through a registered operator.

They were withdrawn a couple of ears ago when a management company (who's name escapes me) was brought in and the whole scheme was dropped cause THEY couldn't make money from it.

B. Lucky

Thers no one under 63 down there.

I think the bus passes have lost us a bit of work, but not that much.

I've always had the view that if someone is going to get a taxi/PH, then they will get a taxi/PH. If they don't want one, then they wont.

Most bus fares for the old dears are only a pound or less, so in fact a free bus one way might allow them a cab back.
