How does this one pound per job work? Your not suggesting a driver pays one pound for every job he get off the radio surely?

£150 month is expensive, compared to radio rent in Manchester.

It's operated on a 'pay as you go' type system.

£18 per week for the ComCab main circuit, then £1 per job taken, it's desinged for the part time / semi retired driver.

If £150 a month is expensive by mancunian standards then they're lucky Cabbies.

I gather in Edinburgh ComCab works out at about £100 per week.

Reading other folks posts, it would seem they're paying around that figure as well for their 'office' rent.

I think, for a London black cab, a pound a job is only good if there are no other jobs around, and it goes a tenner +.

I reckon each of my jobs cost me around 75p in radio rent.

A private hire firm based just on the edge of Glasgow charges their drivers £275 I think it works out at each month and their fairs are set only at £1.40 when you get in, and £1 per mile.

In the next town over (where the private hire get a lot of their work) the hacks are only charged £40 per week. Every hacks on a radio which maybe allows their radio companies to keep the costs down. After 7pm there is little to no street work except for when the few pubs and one night club close.

I had a lovely letter from Comcab asking me to supply PH's to their customers as 'more and more of our customers are requesting a Private Hire Service from us'.

Something got to give, either the motors will be two-bob, or the drivers will be claiming from the state and paying no tax etc.

Maybe someone should point the inland revenue towards that firm.
