I've been thinking about this.

Why are the GMB trying to get radios out of taxis in London yet supporting the complete opposite in Brighton and Hove?

Word on the ranks seems to point to Mike Hedges being right, and the unions are in bed with the bosses.

I believe it's a more simple explanation than that.

They're desperate for more members, it's 2007 and they wish it was 1977. Forget it, you've had your day, your time has gone, just accept it. :D

Less than 5% of the working population of GB are in a Union.

Speaks volumes.

I'm not a dick head, just a cab driver asking a question to you personally that is being asked on the ranks of Brighton and Hove.

By the rude way you answered it looks like a dodgy deal has been done with the bosses, with the full support of the GMB. You should be ashamed.

This is rapidly becoming .......... Brighton Taxi Driver Online.

You shouldn't be surprised by allegations of corruption surrounding actions taken by the trade unions .......................... I'm not suggesting for one moment that a "deal" was or wasn't struck by the representing trade body, but you'll have to come up with some evidence if you are going to allege improper activity.

BTW Wolfie ................ have you applied for a Brighton HC drivers licence?  (only kiddin)

B. Lucky

From a man who lives alone, and rants and raves about socialist values? :D

You know why you typed that keck though?

Yep.

The typical response of a commited socialist in screaming racism, thug and murderers at those that have a difference of opinion to them politically shows just how poisioned the union is against any form of democratic opinion and laughable at best when he then refers to 'democratic procedures

I'm convinced you are paranoid, but there we are.

The lads on the ranks are now convinced a deal was done to increase the amount of cabs (which in turn decreases the amount of work for me) to save the circuits from having to buy wheelchair acceptable vehicles themselves.

If that's not true then please tell me why the firms didn't buy 20 wheelchair acceptable vehicles and licensed them as PH?

I've been told today that one of the PH wheelchair cars has just been sprayed up as a hackney.

So how does that increase the number of wheelchair vehicles?

All it does is decreases my work, so thank you for nothing.

Well Mr Downtown it doesn't, but maybe your council are just trying to do their best.

Of course an option to them is de-limitation, and that would really be interesting. :-$

Well Halcrow report said 150 wavs short so we GMB members requested 30 extra HACK licences be issued every year for the next 5 Yrs.You know the result it didnt please us but was a step in the right direction. We will be persuing this issue vigorously in the future. De-limitation must obviously be an option our members will decide our policy.Gather your not happy with our presence better get used to it membership growing fast. Anything else you want to know????????????.
