Tom Thumb are you saying YOU employ drivers, so they are on PAYE, I doubt it, you probably claim self employed.Well that little scams been tumbled, [worker under the direction of the Company] will finish that off.

All pay National Insurance and I charge VAT on ever fare.

Tom Thumb what about tellimg us who you are and where your based?
We know of very few companys operating to your scenario. You dont mention min-wage.Judgement can only be made on available info, i dont like you using drivers with inadequate crim checks, you know they are inadequate,evidently you dont care.We do, doubt that you will supply requested info,then we will be judgmental, either way.Personally recognise that many drivers would like to be PAYE.

Why should I mention minimum wage? I didn't realise it was compulsory to only pay that level.

Inadequate criminal record check. I have investigated the Polish system, even going to Poland to see for myself what happens. I am reassured that the Polish 'certificate of good conduct' is equal in standard to the British CRB in its level of exploration, just far quicker and cheaper.

Funny thing is, many of my PAYEdrivers would rather be self employed when they see their tax deductions.

No disrespect to you, but, our investigations have made it clear that they only check the last 10 years, Seftons legal department is putting together a full report for the licensing committee, so I do not see how you can say it is the same...

It would appear you work under the outdated system of simple police checks going back only 10 years, in most parts of the country this was discarded after the horrendous murder of the two schoolchildren by a certain school caretaker( I'm positive at the time that the local authority were quite happy with his back ground as was provided by the police search) but since then the advance CRB cheque has been implemented, I well understand the need for drivers to advance your Business, but if you feel the need to ignore the fact that drivers coming into that this country are not checked to the same standards as the advanced CRB check, I can only assume that you place more importance on generating money then you do on the safety of your passengers, as for the company that is responsible for carrying out the CRB check my views are commonly known, it is a private company that finds itself in a unique position to charge whatever it feels appropriate without being challenged...... and as for being the king of Sefton , I am simply a person that does not like being Kidded.....ps Money is not my God

Your so blinkered you cannot hear what is being said.

I can only make money in my market segment by ensuring I offer quality and security. And I do nothing to endanger that reputation.

Of course we have advanced CRB's. My council insists we have them done annually.

I don't believe, as you seem to, that the CRB is flawless. It can only be so if it is accurate, but you have heard the stories in the press about how crap wehave been at putting the data into the system.

Don't believe that only good old GB is capable of keeping track of its criminals.

My customers want to be taken home from work and I need to provide smart, well mannered, well trained drivers.

I need to recruit drivers who meet these standards and being British is not essential.

Tom the key term is ENHANCED crim check, which goes back to day one obviously 10yrs is completely inadequate, as mrT demonstrated.

Of course drivers dont have to be British, but the British would like a level playing field.We have Polish members before you ask.

You are obviously very happy with the commodity you purchased in Poland, and also comfortable with the fact that there is a difference in the standard of advanced CRB checks, who you are is none of my concern, and I think we will have to agree to disagree.
