Unless you have been given special dispensation to take your plates off, they should remain on the vehicle.

That's an interesting point, why did he ask you to take the plates off?

Surely that's a suspension in itself. :?

he said it doesnt matter you cant have a licenced PH vehicle unless your with an operator.

Why not apply for a single ops license?

Because it wouldnt make any difference, i'd still have to display doorsign's, which i dont want to because i'm parked in town all day and some numpty will think there's cash to be had, and i'll be minus one window.

I think the licensing officer is taking the approach that once the vehicle is Licence as a private hire vehicle, it is always a private hire vehicle so therefore should be attached to a radio company, there is a case on this is the not JD.

I'm not on a system at the moment so i cant display door signs.
But the reason i havent suspended my plate is, if i want to work for instance on saturday night, i can ring an operator and be on the road in 1/2 hour, but if my licence is suspended i cant, so surely this is against my right to work and earn a living as a self employed person?

I wonder what would be the case if your vehicle was licensed in more than one area and they all said you had to display an operator's sign?

Is there any chance you could print out exactly what the door sign condition says on your PH vehicle license? :?

If i'm not working, and i have a normal MOT cert (i dont at the moment but i will by 10am tomorrow), why cant i remove all traces of a PH Vehicle and use it as an ordinary car? Without being suspended???

THATS ALL I WANT TO KNOW?

Keeping the plates and door signs ready for when i want to work?

Because the license is for a year unless revoked or returned.

You can only make it non PH by returning your license, and then it will need to be re-issued as and when. :?

Your license has been "suspended", it has not been "revoked". Does your vehicle not have a paper verification that it has passed the test examination?

Yes JD, a complience cert valid until August 2007.
The only reason i dont want to suspend it, is if i suddenly have to work for any reason i can pop my plates and signs on and switch on. Bingo cash comes in!
If i'm suspended, i have to wait until i can phone the Lo, and as we all know if somethings going to happen, it'll happen when everywheres closed!!

I'll bet, if i appear before a magistrate and explain that i remove all sign's that the vehicle is a PH vehicle so as not to confuse the public that i'm a taxi/Ph, and go through the expense of having a normal MOT as well, they'd throw it out of court and allow the appeal.
If it was a black cab i could understand it, but it's a vectra for gods sake!

But...................i need to be sure.

sorry, I think you'll lose, but you never know, the only reason I would appeal is simply to buy time.

remember if you license yourself as an operator, the name that you register the company in is up to you, it could be Mr Ford 777
