To clear things up TDO was approached just over a month ago and asked very nicely if they could use the restricting and plate value lists.

As they are JD's I passed on the request to him, and it appears that JD agreed that they could use any info on his lists.

The NCC kindly sent us an advanced copy of the press release, which is what I put up 63 minutes earlier than allowed for the benefit of our esteemed members and readers.

Alex
Alex I am quite certain that is exactly what happened, but I would not be surprised if somebody had e-mail them in the first place and suggested that is what they do.

Talk about contradicting yourself.

I can't really see the relevance of the point though, unless you're looking for an excuse to bully - you'll be mentioning the word shotgun next, Mr T.

But if the issue means that much to you then the NCC's contact details are on the press notice, so why don't you contact them instead of getting yourself bent out of shape on here?

What the NCC have said is that via their survey, and I like you have yet to see the full data, many customers are using un-licensed vehicles.

Many people are using PH illegally .................... but that happens whether the area is restricted or not and is perpretated by people who would pick up illegally from outside their area even if they had a HC plate.

So in the 72% of councils that don't restrict, it effects their ability to enforce the law?

Do you think that they do?

Are you not continually claiming councils are not fit to run licensing and I would suggest that is down to the number as well as the quality of designated staff .................... will your higher quality standards not include provision for extra enforcement.

Do you live in the real world .......................

Gateshead has fewer staff in licensing now than we did when we only had 85 plates. .......................... and standards have dropped.

TDO, are you feeling all right, you're not making sense, you seem to have been away for a long time, have you just woke up.

OK, so I need to spell out your contradiction, or is it something else that's the problem?

1 Alex said that the NCC approached TDO ( :D )

2 You then agreed that that was "exactly what happened".

3 You then said that you wouldn't be surprised if someone had emailed them in the first place.

Thus 3 contradicts 2, innit? #-o

And I suppose one day you'll be discarded like a smelly old sock.

to be honest nothing the "unholy trinity" does surprises me, basically if these guys get thier way, our jobs will be crap.

they harp on about cheaper fares, why not give them all free rides

they harp on about vehicle standards - put on some S class Mercs

granted plate premiums can be high, but it doesn't equate that high plates = higher fares or poor availability

or that free for all means a better level of service and standards

I guess its hard for some people i.e. skull who end up being jockeys through thier own stupidity

you should be proud boys, give yourself another pat on the back for trying to feck the trade up

But why have you allowed that to be, and instead of banging on about quotas you started banging on about standards a bit more?

Which brings me back to what I said a while back. Most punters don't know (nor really care) they are getting into an illegal vehicle when they flag down a PH. Most think it's a cab.

So if the punters in the survey are saying that they have (on mass) used un-licensed vehicles, then there's a big problem for us all.

Not my usual stance but I'm trying to get away from the PH/HC debate. At least both are licensed.

I'm more concerned about all these un-licensed hirings. Once we get that data we can then go back into battle.

Burningham is one of the hot spots, according to the documentaries I have seen, and then again the major one is in London.

I think if anyone puts anything up on an open website then IMO anyone else can use it.

I'm more than certain that many good folks have benefited from the judgements that have been posted up on here.

Not sure their LOs were best pleased about it.
