well lads n lasses,
it can only be a winner in my city of work, this place is the heinz 57 varieties o la's. we have got, tx's..e7's..eurobus..doblo..scudo..mercs..citroen..then cum the saloon, sum o are worth nothing ! ie.. l reg cavalier..n reg escort..wich is drove by an old guy that looks like rigor mortice set in about 1972 !
then we've got the hire-plates to compete with, and by the way dundee is still open ! anyone wishing a plate can do so, as long as they fit the bill ! so yes ! bring it on ! i'm sick o my chosen trade being a feeder rank for redundancies and these twisted old gits hiring out the plates that should go in... wot a mess eh ? gotta go now and get my daily interogation...you busy ? this your own car ? time do you finish ? then the patronising statement..you guys must be loaded if you can afford a motor like this !! if only they knew wot we go thro !!!

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. :-k

If the OFT didn't do their study then IMO the DfT wouldn't have done all that first phase lark. They would have been quite happy to do nothing.

Now with OFT 2 due soon, then just maybe this is the final reminder for the DfT to sort it.

Well let's hope the gov don't need them, and they repeal section 16 all on their own.

But they will be mate, my good mate at the NCC told me.

Okee dokee Mr JD , i cannot post the EC directive BUT i can get the relevant Directive number once its vilafied. What i will do however is speak to my friend with a large Taxi op in the midlands who is extremely forward with his research , to the point where he has just sold and replaced a fair portion of his fleet with Eurobuses.

He will give me the relevant details which i will place on here for your avid readers.
From memory some of the regs become enforceable in 2010 and others come shortly after but i will check tomorrow and let you know without fail.

As you know this is not my chosen area of expertise but i do keep an eye on these things as its all relevant.

My father was a taxi driver, my uncle was a taxi driver.
Both have had cancer (father had stomach, uncle has brain for the SECOND time and is recovering, my best friend is mentioned above , so im not anti taxi , quite the opposite!) Taxi drivers are pretty tough cookies it would seem:D

(my attention is diverted elsewhere at the moment as you may have guessed    )

The VOSA ,merc, buyout is actually on their site albeit sketchy, i however speak to certain peeps within VOSA who are not happy with this situation and are in positions to protest and be heard .

Trouble is the man at the top does,nt seem to concerned about it all and sees it as progress???????

Funny that you don't mention the Disability Discrimination Act at all Mr Graduate, which has always been the most imminent initiative in this matter.

And the DfT did say that the start date for implementation would be 2010, so your mate wouldn't be on about that by any chance?

I think you will find he has enough problems of his own, it seems he cannot back up his statements with actual proof, very poor show that it makes people wonder why they are being funded ??

Well he is in good company when he deals with the quota brigade.

That said, the survey was independant as far as I know, so that will be used by many people to support de-limitation.

Just a shame I haven't yet seen it. :?

I think he was on about that legislation that came out in about 1994/5, and if memory serves me correct it did say all taxis have to be wav, by a date in the future

Skippy 41 All councils by the Year 2010 have to have a plan on how All their Hackney's will become W.A.V.

Our council has said they are going to opt out of it and are convinced that they will not have to force drivers to buy wavs but have talked about a quota sytem 1 wav per taxi firm !

I have been the ONLY hackney in my town with a WAV for 7 years the DISABLED customers hate it and will always go for a saloon instead including wheelchasir users who would rather transfer than travel in their chair ! The people who prefer the vehicle Mums with pushchairs and nursing homes an easy way to get their residents to the doctors/dentists
and people with loads of luggage to ship to the airport

When this lark all started in 1995 I asked someone in the know about the opt-out.

He said that if an area had a major train or coach station, or airport, or was a major tourist place, then they would have no chance of an opt-out.

He was of the opinion that very few, if any, councils would be granted an opt-out by the minister.
