There is A B-Tech running in my area, its not compulsay and free to existing drivers, either funded by the LA or even given free by the Franchise operator as a loss leader.

You remind me of a dog chasing its tail. In other words your running around in circles getting nowhere. What is it your after and if your concerned about Btecs in your area then your solution lies with the council does it not. You haven't said if you want to make them harder and relative to the taxi trade or have them abolished?

It's like pulling teeth with you, why don't explain what you want instead of faffing around getting nowhere.

Reply: I said we don't need both! I assume you are part of or have a financial interest in promoting B-Tech. What I want is to get another paracite off the back of the trade. The trade is so fragmented and without a viable national body that we are prey to every leech out there. No-one who has done the course can honestly say that it has any merit or benefit to anyone other than the person collecting the fees.

Well its patently obvious that your council thinks you do need both, therefore if you don't like it, "change it". Don't you have a dialogue with your council?

Nonsensical.

So you want Btecs stopped. Why don't you just make them harder and representative? Or perhaps you prefer to see entry into the taxi trade made easier?

What are you calling the "TRADE" the NTA promote themselves as a national body, aren't they good enough for you? And how do you define a taxi trade leech?

If the course is compulsary then the council obviously think its of some benefit and we all know that councils know best.

Nonsensical.

Reply: By that reply we can all safely assume that you are up to your neck in it. What do you get, a fee per franchise or per student. ???

I suggest you look into it a bit more and you will find that one person does have his hands in the pot.

But that person has only ever posted on here once.

Reply from T.: when you say free, free to who ? The drivers, the Local Authority ? If the LA pays it will be added to the license fee eventually so we will pay in the end.
How much is the franchise £3-4K in that region ? How does the franchisee get a return on his investment ? What educational qualifications are required to teach this B-Tech ?
Here's the pitch: " shut the muppets in a room, switch on the laptop, run the software, come back in 1 hour and let the muppets out. Council are queing up for it, if you get in at the start you will make bundles, we have plenty of other packages in the pipeline, disability awareness, racial stuff, this will be very big, once the concept is out there the Councils make it mandatory and you can run course after course, just pitch a course based on the local headlines whatever is the buzz of the moment. Date-rape awareness is hot,a course to teach the drivers to spot vunerable females, 1 hour course, certificate at the end £50, Councils will love it. Sign here, how many areas can you cover?

T. is right to be cynical about some of these things - I'm all for quality control in the trade, but these "qualifications" where all that's required of the driver is to turn up are a waste of time and aren't really QC at all.

Likewise, the content of some of these courses seems to be driven by political correctness and suchlike. QC should concentrate on core issues like driving ability, geographical knowledge and knowledge of the rules.

Reply from T.: T. is right, T. IS right and TDO said it, so it must be true. I have lost the will to live, if TDO say I am right will people start to associate me with their thinking, what purpose is left in my life if TDO agree with me. Did I get so near the truth that TDO can only discredit me by agreeing with me. This is like chess, the moves intreague me. TDO is like an enigma rapped in a puzzle, unfortunately smelling of CR*P.

As always "Sussex" celebrates the negative, wallows in others discomfort, you are so pitiful and pathetic. I suppose thats what happens when you realise your hopes are dashed, your dreams in ruins.
The tide has turned and is unlikley to turn your way again in this lifetime, your boat has sailed. Meanwhile on the goodship TAXI OWNER its doubles all round, haappee days are here again da-d-dad-dad-dad, happy days are here again, all together now, HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AAAGAAAAIN !

That's because of your distorted perception, twisted logic, and general misery. You have banged on your dereg drum so long you cannot hear the rest of the orchestra who have moved on to the next tune.

I think we are all under the impression it was you who brought up the subject of derestriction?

You're 12 months behind the times because 36% of the 151 councils asked to reconsider their policy have either removed quantity controls or instigated a timetable for removal.

The deregulation debate has moved on, its only you and people like you who don't like the results that continually harp on about dereguation. I have a distinct feeling you don't feel very confident about your local councils future policy.

This topic was about B-Tech but you turned it into a Dereg item when I pressed you about the level of involvement on some of the posters on this site.
Q: Are you paid by commission per franchise or per student ?
State unconditionally that you JD do not in any way have a financial link to any part of the B-Tech scheme !
