the thing is de-reg is wrong, the buses have provided a case in point, examples include manchester, oxford.

as for dereg itself, what about all the places that have "re regged"

There's a million threads on deregulation on this site. I just wonder why the pro deregulationists would want to start another one, when they are so confident the tide has turned in respect of removing quantity controls and that in the past the've always accused TDO of what they are doing now?

Do I detect the wiff of defeat, you sound like you are looking to save face. The gloating tones you spouted at every Dereg are gone, you want to end the debate; to sweep it under the carpet. Political thinking has changed, even the mighty Tesco got knocked back in the courts (listen to the news today) they lost their appeal to open another express store in north London. Numbers capped by planning, no benefit to the community to have another store in the area. Quality not quantity, the decision takers are wise to your scheme, your horse is all but dead stop flogging it and let in die in peace. We know you wont, you will flog every last breath, squeeze every morsal of flesh because you are selfish and without dignity.

What is there to sweep under the carpet? The only reason you know how many authorities retain quantity controls is because this site told you. The deregulation debate as you put it was won in 2004 by the T&G wasn't it? Thats what Mr Kavanagh told us. Remember him?

What councils do is entirley up to them but it would appear that somewhere along the line 54 of them didn't take much notice of Mr Kavanagh and the likes of yourself. Therefore perhaps you need to peddle a different message because the old message didn't get through.

We have reached de-limit of this thread, the tide has turned on Dereg.
The good thing that has emerged from the whole dereg disaster is that it has been a big wake-up call to Taxi Owners. They all know that complacency kills, we must be constantly looking out for threats to our trade we must be vigilante in protecting our profession. Taxi Owner must now re-establish the Taxi as defined. The destinction between PH and Taxi must be clear, the public should not be confused, we must remove the grey area and define the legislation. Amish Boy from Sussex and JD et al can continue to thrash their lifeless horse, they are of no consequence now.

You really are running on a dry tank now. Coasting only works downhill which is the only direction you got left. DEREG/DELIMIT DEBATE IS OVER , The rest of us are moving on, to the restoration of the historic position of the Taxi-Hackney Carriage. To regain its status as a profession. PH is about as popular as a Bernard Matthews Turkey Twister, may look like the real thing but look closer and you can see that there are things available that are a lot better for you.
H-a-p-p-y Days are here again.

Firstly I, like you, would like to see less PH in this country, but unlike you I want them to become hackney carriage, if they want.

Secondly saying PH are unpopular just shows how little you know about the taxi/PH trade. PH custom has increased at a far greater rate than taxi custom. Go to the ONS or DfT site and they will give you the stats to prove it.

We could debate the reasons why, but you might not like them. :D

Prove your point Amish Boy, remove the Taximeters from PH vehicles, stop PH operators advertising alongside Taxis. Stand up for yourselves.
You would not last a year you know it and everyone else in the trade knows it and the decision takers are now realising it.
HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN.

Well we can only be thankful that it's now April 2nd so you can stop posting all that nonsense.

But you certainly had me fooled - I was almost taking you seriously
