You're all mad.

Why rent a radio? I paid £100, Sanyo - fully fitted, CD and all.

It's far cheaper than paying this 'rent' you know.

Not everywhere has such a booming trade like London.

In Glasgow there is enough street work if your smart about it but I'd say about 70% are on the Glasgow Taxis LTD radio circuit aswell.

Booming trade? If only you knew the hardships of working down here.

But, thanks to our 'booming trade' Radio rents in the capital are only about £145 per month.

Is that the same for the PH on their circuits? :D

We have to pay £5 late charge if we do not pay or radio rent by 1pm on monday. But if you are short of cash for some reason or another you can normally pay your radio rent at a later date and he will still let you work.

As you well know, Minicabs are not 'on' the circuit. I believe they throw them some scraps occasionally to placate them though.

The Taxis will tell you that Minicabs are getting work from a circuit, the Minicabs will claim the work is going into Taxi's, GBC will tell you that he's decided after much careful consideration, to stick to street work and leave the politics to others. :-k

£75 per week round our way, if you don't pay by 12pm then it's 10% charge above the bank base rate.

Question in your area is it normal practice to have to pay extra on a daily basis if your radio rent is not paid on the correct day , for example £5 a day extra on top of what you owe.

£5 a day sounds a lot to me too. Our firm charges a fixed weekly radio rental but we knock £5 off the whole week if the driver pays it early... like some utilities providers do if you pay in advance or agree to pay by direct debit. Virgin media will charge you one price if you want to pay by invoice which takes longer for them to get their money. If you agree to a variable direct debit which transfers your funds earlier then it's cheaper...

It sounds a little bit like saying the glass is half-full, when really it is half-empty, purely out of curiosity, how many hours a week will one of your drivers spend behind the wheel of his car.

No rent for me, so not late charge. Bit of a liberty really.
